The backstory is this (yep, storytime with Foxfur):
My twin brother & I were adopted at birth. Nobody knew our Bio-Mom was carrying twins, not even the docs. The folks got the call from the agency telling them there was a 2 for 1 situation going down and that if they wanted to back out that it was perfectly acceptable.
Dad immediately said yes he'd take us.
He opened his arms twice as wide, went out and bought one more everything and welcomed us into the family.
If they'd not taken us we'd have been in the foster care system for god knows how long. Not many folks out there that would have taken on such a project.

Thanks Dad.
Ff

I've had foster kids in and out of my house over the last 10 yrs.( all older, no little ones) I still hear from them once in a while, all are doing great. And only one has strayed to my dissappointment and landed in jail. And one has stayed around and he's coming to BM with me.
I think back now and wished I had taken smaller ones. And I would have gladly taken a set of twins!!

I think being a foster parent must be tougher than an adoptive parent.
The transience has to be heart breaking.

(It seems to me that burningman population has a higher incidence of adoptees than the general population. Or is it just that I have more intemicy (sp) with them so I learn they are adopted?)

Happy. Heck, it's friday, that'll do.

I would have loved to adopted them all! But the revolving door made it
so much more interesting. The stories of each are wonderful!

My happy day today! I interviewed for a higher position!

It really is a special way to grow.
My folks told us when we were just old enough to understand, maybe 4 or 5. It wasn't ever a weird thing or a secret.
When we got older they helped find our biological mom. It was a anonymous adoption.
My brother's wife found our bio-dad.
He passed in 2001 but I'm so thankful I knew him for 9-10 years.
Just incredible to see all the similarities.
And mind blowing to find out we had two more twin brothers from him and a different mom. He married a woman 2yrs after we were born and adopted (he was 18).
Life can be so amazing. Even more so when you have 4 parents!

Drove up to the top of the mountain in the backyard to the BLM land up there. Doors open in the truck, nice tunes rockin softly, sunlight streaming in the winders, ahhh. Seems I fell asleep and didn't realize it until I woke up! Waking up to a field full of shasta daisies and foxgloves NEVER sucks!

Came home and grilled up some angus burgers that my neighbor raised and gifted to us. Made up a plate along w/ some corn and beans, put on my barbarian shoulder pads and cyber helmet and brought it down to him. I strolled over to where he was sitting at his fire pit and announced "Tactical Picnic Delivery Service!"
He almost fell over laughing :D. Really appreciated the 'Happy Meal' I brought. We sat and talked for 3 hours. Best neighbor ever. We enjoy his cows when they come up to the fence near our front porch and we enjoy them when their time is done and they continue on in the circle of life. It really gives you perspective and appreciation to know the food you eat. One tends not to take it for granted and certainly does not waste such food. There is beauty in everything, even mortality.

All in all one of the happier days all year!

If I understand you correctly then it's Angus heifers? The lady cows of the angus variety.
I grew up in a subdivisional suburb that had cattle at the end of our street. As I grew up the ranches moved farther and farther out. What was once three houses up the street in now miles away. I spent my first 20yrs there, my second 20 in rural and backwoods Oregon and my next 20yrs will hopefully see no change in station from the second... (The math adds up but looks funny)
I'm still more familiar with the consumer end of cattle than the husbandry end

I so badly want to move there. Unfortunately all of Sweetpea's specialists are in the PDX area as well as large emergency med centers when she needs em :(. Maybe some day... I have taken her down for short visits and she loves it as well.

My dad took up mining or panning for gold when he was in nevada. He told me a story once which i find very funny.

So one day he's panning for gold and a park ranger happens by, tells my dad he cant pan for gold there. My dad being a law abiding citizen tells him he's wrong and it is indeed perfectly legal. the ranger tells him no its not and my dad continues to disagree, things escallate into an argument and the ranger puts his hand on his holster which is a nice secure flappy type holster. so my dad stands up and puts his hand on the butt of his revolver. "son" says my dad in his best cowboy voice "are we going to have a shoot out?"
The ranger replies "i'm going to arrest you"
"no you ain't because i'm not braking any laws and if you go for your gun I WILL defend myself"
my dad then added "now your gun is is in a nice safe holster your going to have to lift the flap before you can draw, i've got a nice quick draw holster here"

the ranger got into his suv and left, my dad followed suit as soon as the ranger was gone. My dad seemed a bit dissapointed with the ranger

good story GD.....yeah, sometimes, a little authority, goes a long way with folks.

Ff: come visit. I live in the middle of the "mother lode" here in northern CA. Lots of panning, lots of gold.
There's hardly a place, you can't just scoop dirt and find a little "color". And, sometimes, you really "hit it".
Goathead has a nice mining claim near here, too. My cousin owns a hardrock mine, and the creek on the property has gold. In fact, the creek/canyon name is "Slug Canyon", not named for the state mollusk here, but, because the nuggets found upon original exploration, were about the size of a "slug" of chewing tobacco.......The mine reports, and bureau of mines reports, show his mine, the "triple pocket", had 3 pay zones (from whence the name came) that averaged over 40 oz./ ton of high grade ore.
He's now tunneling in below that area, hoping to repeat earlier successes.........

Happy, is having pals come visit, and finding gold..........or, sitting, drinking, and laughing........

I would love to pan for gold!! It would be fun!! If I found a few flakes it would make my day!! I remember back in the day before Knott's Berry Farm had fences, the had this little gold mining place. once in a while someone would get a tiny nugget and I got some gold dust nd was thrilled to death!

Born and raised Wyoming here. I didn't know snow could fall straight down until I was 23 years old! The first time I saw snow pile up on a fence post, I was absolutely amazed! No drifts? WTF? The land of huntin' and fishin',,,, used to be the well practiced fly fisherman on streams of the Big Horn Mountains.

So the good part about my day,,,, went to Santa Barbara Pride on the beach today and participated with my friends. We had a booth together for our kinky bunch. Also had some business cards for Retrofrolic and talked to a few interested folks,,,, a burner here and there. It was a beautiful day in spite of the Royal Couple being in the neighborhood,,,, traffic bullshit,,, but the event was outstanding!

Trish was all set to go last night and woke up shaking to the bone and opted out of going. But as I get home this evening she had a restful day and will probably be up to lunch out tomorrow.

How many days? Forty-Five for us!
