My evolution (Creationist need to stop reading right here): This whole thing started with me when I rode my bike out to L and 9:30 where I usually camp and saw the boutique hotels, truck beds full of brand new portable air conditioners and mini-fridges, new bikes lined up and walls and walls of RVs. The past several years it's gotten worse out there, with some douche camp pressuring me to move last year. I went and talked to my playa buddy down the street and he was bitching about how the for-profit, non-participatory camps were taking over land that used to be held by folks bringing it. Through the event I noticed segments of the people, segway driving into the man plaza, DJs talking over the burn, and on and on and on, that I attributed to a bad shift in the Zeitgeist. I rode back out to 9 and L a couple more times that week and every time what I saw made it worse. After the Burn, my buddy posted a thread pointing out the obvious, what I saw with my own eyes. As more information leaked out, more people in an open forum could collaborate and gestate, the picture progressively became even worse. Meanwhile, trying to avoid any controversy or conflict, some people claimed there was no problem, there was not enough information to form any opinion, that anyone voicing an opinion was a nutjob troll, and on and on. They were not telling me my solutions (I never offered any) were wrong, they claimed my basic opinion on the matter was crazy, what I saw with my own eyes was not true.

To me this is like if it is raining on me and I say I am wet. If someone tells me that I am wrong because there isn't enough information for me to say that, or that I'm not wet, or that it isn't raining, or that it rains other places or that they are dry or I really don't give a shit, while I stand there in the rain getting wet... that offends me. All they needed to do is say, yeah, you got rained on.

At first, to me, it wasn't really about equality or problem solving or new rules or more regulations or working for a solution or cooperating or whatever.
It was raining on me and I got wet.
I was told repeatedly that I should not state the obvious and that I was wrong in what I said.

I'm glad you're finally admitting that what you've been doing is trolling. I didn't mean to suggest that the discussion has been completely useless. Some of it has, that's what you get when there are trolls, but having a discussion like we've had is how you share info, refine your opinions and find others to collaborate with. That website and the event it links to is part of a collaborative effort that I'd bet started with ranting much like we've been doing.

My point is, it's probably time for the talking to give way to some action.

Talk and exchanging opinions and ideas IS ACTION !!!!!! So is being a troll and sabotaging the discussion while claiming to ride some higher motivation.

Its been refreshing to see your 'official' stance on the matter shift as the conversation has been had and more details presented themselves in a manner easily digestible by the status-quo kool-aid drinkers. For me, I am not going to BM 2015. Not necessarily because of this kerfluffle, but this bullshit will make it easier to sit and watch from the sidelines this year. I am planning on putting all my BM energy into the regional event in Oregon. I'm not sure what the future holds for my relationship to BM.

I am excited though, seems like this little bump shook quite a few disgruntled burners off the BM train. It is now clear that the community that surrounds BM has begun to out-grow the event. I predict the next few years will see a rise of unofficial events by and for to the 'burner' crowd.

That's what I want to put my energy into, not a packaged and paid-for experience built on the backs of volunteers disguised as communal effort.

To sum up:
The eplaya discussion on commercializing Burning Man has been sabotaged repeatedly by the self-admitted troll/moderator Elderberry.
He has stated repeatedly that what counts is his enjoyment, all principles, integrity, concern of others be damned.
When I tired of his shit, he trolled my Private Messages, then he whined about me posting his trolling in public.
Then I got a half dozen other Private Messages from moderators which I deleted without reading because I am sick of the trolling.
Elderberry has called me a troll, a trouble maker, said I needed Midol, claimed I was irrational, all the while trolling for the Borg.
Now that reality has caught up with the Borg, and the cat is out of the bag, Elderberry changes his tune and acts like he is/was concerned about the issue.
He piggy-backs on whatever the community consensus comes around to, as many intellectually weak individuals do.
Before it was ignoring the commercialization/moop/corruption, now it is acting like it is a concern for him.
