The Department of Homeland Security has been pretty good...so far.

I just don't use air transportation any more. I drive instead of flying. Sorta like John Madden.

When the airline makes a mistake, YOU get searched. It happened to me. I had round-trip tickets to Bozeman, Montana from St. Louis, with the obligatory stop in Salt Lake City to change to a commuter jet. However, LEAVING Bozeman is a lot tougher than getting in. I had a United flight cancel right out from under me. Following my rule of 'be nice', I had a WONDERFUL ticket agent that got me a really wierd connection that worked to get me back in time for a job on Monday morning. She routed me from Bozeman to Salt Lake to Cincinnati to St. Louis. Bozeman to Salt Lake took 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wait 4 hours in Salt Lake City. Then, midnight to 4 a.m. fly to Cincinnati. 6 a.m. fly to St. Louis. Arrival at 7:30 a.m. The thing was, by rebooking to a one-way my ticket was marked "SSSSSSSSSSSSS" which means in ticketese, "Search this individual".

Luckily, I was handled well by a middle-aged mustachioed cowboy type who was also courteous. Once in the passenger area, I found the BAR. I sat with another cowboy who was headed to Missouri. He wanted to buy a bunch of Missouri Foxtrotter horses, which they use to herd cattle in the mountain meadows where they summer graze the cattle. While at the bar, I had a 'horny toad". For those of you interested in mixology, it's Sauza Hornitos tequila mixed 1:1 over ice with Midori melon liqueur. Invented in St. Louis some years back at La Hacienda restaurant on Manchester Road, it's a favorite of mine. It also is a way of giving a nod to my friend punzy, who also is a Sauza Hornitos fan. I made it back to St. Louis in time to meet a crew to go drill in plain view of the Gateway Arch.

Driving has more adventures per mile than flying. Seriously. That's one lesson from the last 5 trips to Burningman that I hold dear. The people you meet and the experiences you have are much better than being stuck in a metal tube with wings for a few hours. Sure, it may take longer, but quality of time spent on the road beats all hell out of perusing the SkyMall catalog for overpriced merchandise like golf ball cleaners.

heheh... Robbidobbs said 'flush' hehehe

Busy and fun times ahead. I've already been up and at 'em for a few hours. Pandorra and I will be heading over to the Haight in a few, she wanted to check out a few things while she's home today. Then later I'll head on over to HQ to get my credentials and do the check-in and meet n greet for the GLC. Later there's some kind of happy hour, followed by either some kind of dinner shindig at a nearby brewpub, or absconding to the Exploratorium for an awesome looking event they're having on wearable tech. Somewhere in there, I'll have some back end admin-type stuff to attend to, and maybe even get something posted on the @BManGLC feed.

It's a sunny day so far, we'll see how well that holds.

Left the office early. Some kind of stomach bug. Slept the entire afternoon. Well other than the two hours I spent shivering under the covers.

Hate being sick.

seconded! and, I have great success, using "green black walnut hull and wormwood" extract, two droppers mixed in warm water on an empty stomach. Seems to kill tummy bugs fast.

This makes three of us wishing you wellness, Vulture Chow - me, ygmir and Joeln.

You guys ever been in the Caribbean and had 'bush tea'? I've heard multiple stories now from folks who've been in the Bahamas and a native from Jamaica who swear by it.

I haven't had flu in years. My employer pays for flu shots yearly as part of the wellness campaign. Plus, now if I get aspirin prescribed to prevent stroke, they pay 100% for the aspirin, any brand. Just DO NOT take aspirin if you've got the flu. It's the root cause of an increased incidence of Reyes Syndrome, especially with kids. You have flu, take TYLENOL.

150 miles of dirt road and some high clearance vehicle stretches, I feel beaten. But oh my, to stand at the edge of the Grand Canyon without a guard rail.... oh my. I kept looking at the formations and wishing I had Rhino on speed dial, except there's no phone reception on there. (well, yeah, we have onstar and technically that's a satt phone). Pics later.

For fuck's sakes, the place to report problems and issues with the site IS NOT IN THE BAR THREAD, nor is it to be done with sock puppet theater.

If you run into an issue, either PM one of the moderators or post about it on the Site Function board.

Gee, trilo, do I look like a sock to you?

The reason I said ANYTHING is to let Simon know he's not alone. I come to the BAR THREAD to start my day off right. This is where I get useless news to make me giggle. If I have a PROBLEM, I go to the FUCK! thread. I jump through hoops to get here as it stands.

Aww thanks. Made it to work. Still not feeling great, but I think it's because I'm still recovering from yesterday. No more fever. Couldn't eat breakfast, but I'm slowly eating some plain pasta right now. Still not sure what it was, but thankfully it seems to have passed quickly.

Otherwise good day at work. We've loaded our barrels for bear and I'm having fun poking him as Ygmir had suggested.
