Hello, MDF...take your time and be patient - with the hardest person to be patient with.....yourself.

We all love and respect you.

All too often in the return from Black Rock City the default rises up in our midst to smack us down and back to 'reality'. It's happened to me before, and it's no fun at all.

Good morning, Bar!

Lucky, I'm glad the plumbing fix was easier than you expected... Lucky, indeed!

Radio this morning mentioned a 4 point something earthquake in NW Nevada.
Anyone know more about it?

I need to get out of the house, but all I can think of is where, and do I have to go shopping when I get there.

Don't forget to watch tonight's extraordinary lunar event as the moon rises, should be fairly eerie.

For you, Patsch, I got the scoop, direct from Menlo Park (USGS western HQ).
It was located at: 41.871°N 119.612°W depth=10.2 km (6.3 mi)
It was a Modified magnitude 4,3 in a relatively remote area of NW Nevada, a mere 3 miles south of the Oregon line, and on the other side of Bald Mountain from the Black Rock Desert. No injuries or damages reported as of yet., but that's probably doubtful as well.

Modified magnitude equates to between a Mercalli scale II and III, which is little damage if you're sitting on top of it.
It probably shook up some burros and antelopes, but that's about it.

There's been a bunch of earthquakes in that area the past several months. Nearest town in Nevada is Vya. Biggest town would be Lakeview, OR where some have been felt

Thanks, ^Rhino!... Was just wondering how close Simon was with his predictions.
I think Mercalli II to III is about the same as Richter 2-3, but as it goes up, Mercalli XI to XII is about Richter 8. (Catastrophic damage to all structures)
On the Playa this year, I was prepared to experience about a Mercalli VI. (Richter 5.) Because they describe this as : "furniture overturns; pictures fall", I brought no pictures or furniture. HA!!

I'll show 'em!
