Unjon, buddy, I got interesting news for you and anyone else with less than perfect vision. Mine was 20/35 and 20/40 until I started doing eye exercises. I bring my eyes in an out of focus about twenty times daily, focusing on a single point. It's brought my vision down to 20/15 and 20/25 for my eyes, which is pretty close to perfect. It doesn't cure astigmatism, just resolution. Eat yer carrots, too....them is good for the eyes.

Unjon, dang! I missed your birthday!
Was at our 4-day Decom, and definitely celebrated, though I wasn't sure 'til now, what it was I was celebrating.
Thank you for that! 8)

I hope you had a wonderful day, and really, really hope to see you next year in BRC.

Yes and I learned some new at sf decom
go when you know from s.r. that you are needed.. verry early
disregard the new compartments if they do not help
stay anonymous

Ratty is keeping track anyway when she arrives

and I kept checking each tall big to be certain that I was not missing Yggy

Got to see Kilbuck and Nila, but, dang, I missed everybody else! Got there at about 4PM and left about 6PM What a crowd! Seems like there were more folks there than I ever remember. Felt so very good to be in the Burner mix again. Sorry to have missed you, ((((((Elliot, Ratty, ASD and Gaminwench)))))). Another time

Yeah, I left at 3, which means I wasn't really there at all, since people and art were still arriving. But I did meet with Gaminwench, Ratty, Oscillator, Killbuck & Nila, and a few more "usual suspects" whose names elude me this morning.

Of course, I did not go to San Francisco just for those three hours. I went to Santa Cruz on Saturday to visit Cricket and Pam. They had a Naked Espresso "camp" at Decom, so I helped lift the espresso machine, which is hefty enough to pretty much require two men.

Then I needed to head home. Lots to do here this week...

..trying to get ready for the Kinetic Sculpture Race in Ventura, Southern California, Saturday 17th. It's a real long shot, but if I can get the "racing sculpture" ready in time....

Mine was also quite nice and boring. I skipped decom, the Midwest Burners' event called 'HullaballU'. They made it a kid-friendly event, which is good for those who have kids. Me? I'm working on a variety of projects.

Next January or February, I'm giving another talk on the Civil War in Missouri at the local Civil War roundtable.

I'm toying with the idea of going to Tennessee for Thanksgiving.

Yesterday morning, a Cub Scout came by and sold me a case of Boy Scout popcorn. I always buy it to support the movement, because Scouts gave me something to do in high school other than becoming a juvenile delinquent (how close I came is a scary story, but it was predestined - my first merit badge was geology...he who picks up rocks and keeps them becomes a geologist or rockhound, he who throws them becomes a juvenile delinquent). And I happen to LIKE the butter toffee popcorn.

I went shopping last night at the grocery store and didn't buy one pound of bacon (HORRORS!) However, I did buy a pound of Italian sausage and three pounds of maple syrup sausage links. Breakfast and dinners this week will be great. I also bought a Kentucky honey-cured ham to slice for sandwiches at lunch this week. I get two weeks of sandwich meat that way. And I still have three pounds of thin-sliced bacon in the 'fridge.

I also got three pounds of my favorite coffee....Costa Rican Terrazu, fine ground.... :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: I drink that stuff a LOT.

Love you guys.

My weekend is now. I'm procrastinating on getting a new car, and finding my paid for low insurance cost car to be hard to part with in the face of down payment and monthly payments for years.... can't I just pour a small percent of that outlay into my beater and get reliability? My mechanic says, not really, it isn't that good of a car in the first place. 15 yrs. is a long run for the wee thing. I'm waiting to hear from my credit union tomorrow to see what I can bring to the deal on my side of the table. I did a very thorough cleaning of the interior, and it's like the morning of a haircut appointment: well, it seems nice enough, do I need to bother? I will shop, and I will be happier to know that the key will start the car each time, as opposed to the dark gameshow excitement I have been living with for a few months.

Great analogies...haircuts and gameshows... I totally get how hard it is to make that jump
into debt. Ugh..

I watched some excellent short films last night....am on the jury for our 24fps short
film fest. Ten more tonight and eleven on Thursday. They're all such great films..it's
always hard to decide which ones to elevate...

We had a great 4-day Decom, 8to11 Oct, in eastern AZ.
One of our two newbies will probably go to the Burn next year. I sure hope so- she's a perfect camper!

Seems the Bar has been abandoned.

Morning Patsh. San Francisco Decom is loads of fun but it's a 10 hour event and we lost our perfect site. So...next year who knows where or what it will be. Other Decoms are overnight. I want to go to one. I think Reno makes sense as far as location.

Hi Lucky, UJH, ASD, Patsh and Ratty. Just got back from a great trip to Menodocino. Cool, damp and more beautiful than I remembered it. Had a marvelous dinner at the Cafe Beaujolais last night. Even had some rain on the way home. Not enough to amount to a hill of beans, but the sound of happy windshield wipers was most comforting.

We all need to spend more time in the NEB while here in in the Bar. So kids, dive in and smile and enjoy the cuddles.
