My daughter in VB has been sick in bed for 3+ weeks now. After coming back from Jamaica in mid March she thought her allergies were acting up, it got worse so she went to hospital and they did the covid test. It came back negative a week later. Doctor says it’s pneumonia gives her meds and tells her “come back if these don’t work”. Next week she goes back, more best xrays. She can see the right lung is covered in white gobs/streaks. Radiology calls next day tells her “no not pneumonia but here’s some prednisone to open those lungs up”Simon of the Playa wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 4:55 amhttps://www.newsweek.com/trump-says-wid ... ry-1497210

She went back to ER this last Monday. She gets admitted for the day. Next day they send her home with no answers. She’s young, fit and has good insurance. I just feel like she got a false negative.
*Disclaimer I’m not a doctor and I don’t play one on tv.

Yup, the test can only confirm that you have the virus, but not prove that you don't. It can come up negative. Some people who have been released after treatment have also come up positive again. Seems to be a sticky virus.
Hope your daughter gets well soon!

I had pneumonia in college (and when I was 4) and it fucking sucked, and yeah, it doesn't make the prospects better, but. . . . she might not have Covid at all, and if she does, she'll probably survive it handily. If you can keep your (physical) distance for your own safety, and ship her comforting things, that would probably be safest.
(But I'm not a parent, am I?
My best to your daughter.

“ Prominent US public health adviser Dr Anthony Fauci appeared on Sunday to confirm a bombshell New York Times report which said he and other Trump administration officials recommended the implementation of physical distancing to combat the coronavirus in February, but were rebuffed for almost a month.
Asked on CNN’s State of the Union why the administration did not act when he and other officials advised, Fauci said: “You know … as I have said many times, we look at it from a pure health standpoint. We make a recommendation. Often, the recommendation is taken. Sometimes, it’s not.”

*Disclaimer I’m not a doctor and I don’t play one on tv.. . . I have no words of wisdom, but--she's young, and the odds are very strong she will overcome whatever the fuck is happening. There are not very many stories of 20/30-somethings succumbing to begin with. As you've probably seen: Kids, 20-somethings, and 30-somethings seem to be doing okay, for the most part, if they are healthy. And being female is a slight edge.

It is what it is. Willful negligence, and corruption. Life goes on. On a personal note, I went to check my empty mailbox at the Post Office. Standing at the entrance was an elderly lady, wearing a mask, and holding a yellow board with all the statistics of the virus. She was encouraging people to do the same. Just as I was about to walk through the door, a mother and a little girl walked out wearing masks and gloves. The little girl looked at me like I was death. So this is the new normal. The little girl I once knew, had an infectious laugh, and all the hope in the world.

“The definition of involuntary or negligent manslaughter encompasses unintended killing through negligence, as well as knowledge that one's actions pose a risk to life. Irresponsible actions or failure to perform a duty can constitute the crime. Do Trump's actions and omissions rise to that level? Ask the families of the 28,000 Americans and counting who have died.”

“In March, John McDaniel called Ohio's shutdown order of non-essential businesses "madness." A few days ago he died.
Now, we don't know the circumstances of how Mr. McDaniel contracted the virus, nor do we know if he took foolish and unnecessary risks. But we do know what he thought of the measures put in place to keep him and the rest of the public as safe as possible. And we all know people who have similar opinions to those that McDaniel expressed on social media. If there's any good to come from his death, let it be that people take those measures more seriously. They're there for a reason.“
