In my eggnog I've always preferred brandy with just a smidgin of nutmeg on the top. Repeat as necessary.

Failing that, there are always Kentucky bourbon whiskey brands available, including Wild Turkey, Jim Beam, and Evan Williams makes eggnog with the bourbon already in. I've even been known to serve Evan Williams egg nog cold in Black Rock City. YUM!

Cold this week, yes, catman. I am looking at the forecast highs and lows and my inner Californian is shrieking. I'm supposed to carry on as if, yes, no big deal. I bought some good gloves.

I have a turkey to cook for freezing in portions and soup.

Gonna drain the five year old gas from the snowblower and change the oil and sparkplug in it
Split more firewood
then 4:00 go to the skin doctor to ID a black mole that seemingly just appeared behind my right ear

God I love having Mondays off

(beside the facts that it's Arizona, and I have an unmowable gravel 'lawn'...)

The small black mole that is behind my ear was benign

It's a shame that saguaros won't make it here in the Great Basin FIGJAM . Bigger shame is that they're being poached
I'm kinda partial to Joshua Trees, Chollas, and Prickley Pears/Beavertail cactus

how the heck to those cacti stand up, FJ? seems the don't have a very strong root base, and are tall and heavy?

Hope the best for you Catman! I see on the weather it's almost here, so probably there in a few more hours. They are calling for snow down to 2500' here.

We had a good dumping back over the weekend, upwards of 12 inches in places. It's been cold since then, kinda unusual for this time of year, though it's supposed to warm up over the next few days. I love it, personally. Hope to get some skiing in this year, I went for the first time since I was in high school late last year. I had forgotten how much I like it.

I commented to my husband that the birds haven't come to eat the berries off of the bushes. We are usually on a migratory path for hundreds of hungry birds. Then I discovered the back yard is full of these. There were probably 10 or 12 of them but it seemed like a lot more when they took flight. Red faced hawks with about a 3 foot wingspan. Magnificent.

yes, hawks eat other birds! I have hawks in my backyard and during summer and spring they are busy going after the other birds. Saw one have a picnic of another bird in my backyard. it was fascinating to watch. Ive also watched them dive bomb after my dog in the backyard. Bastards! not like she can do anything to them. They get real territorial when theyve got babies in the nest...
