Wow! So much going on! I am a bit envious. Larry was home, we were supposed to go to the Element 11 volunteer gathering, but his schedule is just too tight for us to run down to Salt Lake when he is only home for a day and a half. The trouble with owning a home with a nice yard is there is always work to be done. The shed had carpenter ants moving in, and that had to be addressed ASAP. Ugh.

Ratty, ah yes, the doing. Perfect!

So, who is going to be Sheik Yerbutie this year?

I had a fun day today. Decided to visit the Generator in Reno, Nv. and ended up working 4 hours on the embrace2014 artwork.
The embrace artwork is going to be huge, and is going to look awesome on the playa.
A great way to spend time fernley1. From the concept images I've seen, it will be remarkable! Are they planning on burning it?

..and Woohoo! for Elorrum and MDF's great adventure!

I spent most of the weekend outdoors, which is the way I prefer, especially when the weather is nice like it's been. Still cutting dead trees, and formulating where to plant new ones, taking into consideration the path of the sun among remaining trees as well as how I imagine wanting to interact in the space, future bonfire location, seclusion from the hustle and bustle.. sort of a landscape architecture project.

Hopefully all of you had a great weekend. Makers Faire sounds great! Any pictures?

..and congratulations Sadie!

Well, another weekend drawing to a close..
Goodnight all!

*hops into NEB*
From what I've heard, no they don't plan on burning Embrace.
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Yah, I am a Jerk... Lurking in the shadows of the ether.

The 4 month contract I was working last year (which kept me from the burn) has turned into a full-time job, with all the things... Yay, I have vacation time for the burn.

It was an insane winter. My sweetheart from California came up and stayed for her first Canadian winter. All I can say is that I must have done something right, not only did she stay, but she liked being here.

Unfortunately, she has not secured a working visa yet - so she had to go back to CA for the summer. Not the farthest we have been apart, but it still sucks. She will not be back up here till after Playa cleanup is done - sometime in late September or early Oct. At least this year I get to spend a bit of time on the Playa. Not sure how much, but anything long enough to get dusty is good enough for me :)

What is new and exciting?? :coffee:

Hooray and congrats on the job, Rice! Congrats on the sweetheart front too, though boo for having to go through visa issues.

Things around here are in their usual seasonal progression. Friday marked 100 days until the gates opened, so now people will probably start transitioning from casual to frantic planning and building modes :)

I echo Trilo on the congrats on both the employment and romantic departments. I also agree on the frantic planning. I'll be doing that until departure. Plan early.

Its raining in northern Nevada today. A nice soft rain so far this morning.
Weather radar shows its also raining up on the playa.
Good day to get some projects done.

I should probably start cleaning the house -- MDF and Elorrum should be here in three hours or so. Actually, we are going out to lunch, so no house cleaning required.
After lunch I'll send them on to Ygmir.

I really should be working on my lecture for Thursday. It's a great topic too. And I've already done some work... I just wish I was not such a pro at procrastinating. I'll probably end up working half of the night again, as usual, wishing I had just gotten it done earlier.
