I was worried - He thanks his friends for all the good times and for opening a new world. "Because Heli has what could be the biggest and most painful broken heart the world has ever had and I feel that I must say goodbye to everyone. Its been a hell of a walk, but I can hardly be the same person I was before. Goodbye and go with God." So, I was worried and sent him a PM, but no answer. HELI - do drop in and tell us we got it wrong, OK? Yeah, I'm worried. I hope its nothing, but until we hear from him, I'm not sure what to think. Hopefully, I'm just being a Chicken Little (sorry, BC).

I'm feeling some lament myself, and venting at the bar is healthy, but whoa, that's a depressing note. hmm. I've gleaned that several bar regulars know him personally so maybe someone reading this can ring him up. Even Chicken Bigs get paranoid once in a while.

If it rained as much over there as here, you may need a paddle in the morning.

mmm, good Guiness.

We'll wait and see. Rained here all day, but lightly. Nothing like what California/Oregon have been getting. Not much of a winter so far. Cheers again.

Hmmm . . how to answer. Known of Burning Man for years, kind of followed it online. Have even been to playa and Gerlach - but not at BM time. We used to live in Klamath Falls and when driving east to visit, would always take the back roads through the desert before hitting I-80. Once I got attuned to the rough beauty of it, that part of the country just feels most like home. I'm thinking this is the year to just go. E-playa (and Tisha's Bar) are a congenial place - even following some of the feuds and quarrels just reminds me of family.

I never try to pursuade folks into going to BM. It's a big schlep that no one should do unless they really want to for their own reasons. But it's a good idea to go with experienced burners the first time and this is a great place to meet them.

sparks up

Here you go, Zule. You know Heli, I think - read back a few posts and tell us how it strikes you.

I agree, BC. At the very least I can contribute a few "schmattes" to Sputnik's project. Meanwhile, I'm learning all I can.

Is that the translation from his post in Spanish?

I don’t know what to think, He’s kind of done that sort of scary abrupt departure before in the bar here and I contacted people who contacted him that time and it was nothing to worry about then.

Who knows

cock routes around behind bar looking for just the right drink to pour in heli's honor

Can't find anything that's explicitly a helicopter theme, but I found this:

Image

It's a Kiwi drinking a Cosmo while hanging out of a helicopter.

Another round of stouts amigos?

One last one, thank you. And if Heli shows up, give him a drink on me, but I reserve the right to smack him with a herring on the playa. Cheers!

Oh - I thought the kiwi was a flighless bird. No limit to avian ingenuity.

I didn’t get to the warehouse till after 12:30, there was a good energy but a little lower key that I had expected I guess. more people hanging out than dancing but it was cool . there were a lot of the people form our local burner group there. It was a good time.

I met a crew from St. Paul in 2004 who drove to the playa in an RV they dubbed Poultry in Motion. There were chickens painted all over it, they were giving out chicken chachkes, and as if that wasn't enough, they were broadcasting chicken sounds on an FM transmitter. I took a fancy to them, as you can probably fathom. They didn't strike me as rave types, but thought maybe you'd heard of them. ?

So do I have any guinea pigs in here? I have a new mix and it is a bit different and I would love for an honest listen and then the dirty task of telling me what you think.

*walks in....coughs a bit from the dust*

Wow....HELLOooooooo?! Guess I'll tidy up a bit and make some coffee.
*finds magic wand, waves it a round and the bar cleans itself up and a pot of coffee starts to brew*

Have a good day everyone. I'm off to my book bindery job to make some magazines!

I'll be your guinea pig, Sandwichman. Sweet sounds. It gave me the coolest visual of biking on the playa with your music playin. Awesome!
