"Grigory Perelman, the Russian math whiz who solved a century-old problem, said he refused a $1 million prize because he knows "how to control the universe."

I don't know whether to be more amazed at his refusing the prize or his figuring out the problem, or that there are problems that take so long to solve.
Foucault's last conundrum.
He is supposed to have solved all of the questions he posed, but it took a long time for others to solve them with modern aids.
There's your wtf?

Speaking of babes who know how to skin a snake.

Hum-dogie! Don't yew luv Texas?For most beauty queens looking beautiful, having a shiny tiara and saying something about world peace is generally all that's required.
But at the Miss Snake Charmer pageant in Texas the job description is a little more ssssssspecialised.
For it is probably - or perhaps hopefully - the only contest where the winner is required to decapitate and skin a rattlesnake.

You have to watch this vid carefully. It is a wind-powered car that gains more from it's propeller than it loses from drag, It gains sped going directly into the wind;

Badger, can't argue with you. I obviously watched too many vids and mixed things. IF the guy went faster than the wind, [downwind], the streamers would start out in front of him,,,, they would "stall" and drop,,, and then, they would be behind him. IF he reached supra-wind speed in a downwind, the streamers would be behind him. Kinda confusing watching it on a screen. Keep me honest.

Sounds cool - but that would be a perpetual motion machine - Think about it, if it goes faster going upwind, then all you have to do is tow it behind a car to speed and let it go, apparently it will never stop - Perpetual motion.can't sit still wrote:You have to watch this vid carefully. Remember HS physics - your not getting energy for free, or more out than you put in.

007, I'm not sure that it is an open-and-shut case. The prop is driving the wheels. If the prop develops more push-power than the drag effect from the wind, it could work. I won't swear to it. It's not the same as sail powered. It's wheel-driven, not sail-driven.
Free energy from the wind is not the same as perpetual motion. If you read around, there are other attempts;

I won't swear to any of this but, I believe that there are working boats that are prop powered. Here are some older attempts;
