yup, that's it in a nutshell or an oystershell!
The Lions' Club in my hometown used to have a small bus to run around town every Saturday morning in the winter and pick up all the kids. We'd go to the old town hall and the club members would run an old projection set-up there so all the kids could watch the cartoons together. Only cost us 10 cents each. They served popcorn and hot chocolate. Then they'd drive us in the bus up to the YMCA for swimming lessons.
It just occurred to me that I have no idea what my parents did while we were gone every Saturday morning.
Think I just stumbled on to why I have six brothers and sisters! It's all bugs bunny's fault.

Not sure if it happened anywhere else but it happened in my little town.ygmir wrote:*chuckling*...................
That sounds like fun alright. All the kids bussing to watch cartoons and stuff.
Was that in Canada?
Hey good mornin' pine granny. How's the Hallowe'en store. Everybody getting down to the last minute on costumes now.
Lemmongrad is definitely cooling off! freeeeeeeeeeeeezzz
The halloweenie store is finally bustling!
(although I dont work weekends....Wonder if there will be anything left to sell today???)heheeee
I havent started decorating our home yet either? hmmm maybe tomorrow Ill yank all the gear out, have a pretty cool idea on the garden transforming into a graveyard spectacular!
We did finally get all the damned toys parked out back again! It was really crazy in our front yard...
5 trucks, 36 ft camper,27 foot equipment trailer and a trailer with 2 jetski's ...all in the front yard!
Pee'sha~
My truck, my Jimmy....whaaa, has now been targeted for sale.
Brand new crate engine, but the short wheel base makes it a unsteady ride for trailer with more then 25 ft length and 7K lbs!
So one broken driveshaft later.....

Well, I think its really the idea that my truck is barely 13 ft long the tire placement is hardly 8 ft apart.
Pulling that big'ol camper 36ft and a tongue weight of 6280(empty) just was too much for my little 1/2 ton.
The reason I spoke of the 5 trucks is we have the technolgy ...we can rebuild .....
We have BBSue's old girl, she's a full ton 2 fuel tank, silverado. As soon as taxes get here we are going to throw a bigblock 400 in her.
My x just gave me a 3/4 ton Dodge ram.
I think those two will do the trick.
Then if we dump a new radiator in the playa frog, she can drive herself in lue of getting trailered out.

grabs hot chocolate, pours for everyone..........
yay, more cartoons....thanks Gyre...........

maybe we can declare it: "Saturday morning, on Monday"..............
the trailer hitch would have little to do with a broken driveshaft..........it's the weight being pulled that breaks driveshafts..............
bent/broken springs, rear end housings, and, axles are a function of weight distribution/point load/overload.

Easy enough to upgrade any driveline parts on a pickup.
Weight distribution is the tricky part.
The hitches I mention are close to a fifth wheel in location.
But a longer wheelbase does help.
The trailer suspension really makes a difference.
My little utility trailer has an independent suspension and I can pull much more weight because of that.
I pulled a rigid military trailer once with a big pickup and it drove home how much it matters.
Empty it was jinking the truck left and right.
Scary.
They make five ton pickups, so all kinds of parts are available.
Chevy had a short wheelbase with a big block and a four speed.
If you're going as far as a 400, you'd do well to go to a big block and keep the stroke shorter.
I like the bored out ones with a short stroke.
You can get over 400ci with some blocks doing this.
