speaking of fitness stuff, and since all of us here are posting from our computers...

http://www.gaiam.com/product/exercise-b ... l-chair.do

i have one of these. i took the little wheels off the bottom as i am on carpet and they tear it up something fierce. and mine is an older version and does not come with the strap and such.

it is _awesome_ if, like me, you spend a lot of time sitting on your ass in front of a computer. and it is amazingly comfortable. it doesn't feel like you're working out or anything, it feels like you're sitting in a soft, sightly bouncy chair. it does cause me to sit up straighter and use more muscles to hold myself steady. it's very subtle, but it does a world of good for me.

plus the ball comes right out and you can use it to actually work out with. :)

I'm at my desk, but still in jammies and robe. Mental health day off from work happily coinciding with a decent cold.

daratheresa...great chair! my physical therapy place suggested I get one (holding off due to finances)

I've been juicing daily now, w/ginger...thanks for the reminder post AntiM!

Sunny days and walks are going well.

I hope you're hanging tough Elorrum, soon I'll join.
btw, I may bump an anit-smoking thread soon...giving a heads up.

nine days, ten today. It's not bad, really. I'm kind of surprised, was expecting a moment to moment battle, and after the first few days, it's just sort of moments when I have to say, "oh, wait, I don't smoke." Not the grits I was expecting. but, I have to also say to myself, "don't fuck with a streak."

Day 11!! hang tough!! My most successful quitting, my younger sister and father would count the days, at first I didn't like it BUT this turned out to be great support! They would call me or find me to say the number.

I do NOT, give a hoot if anyone here thinks it's "weak willed" I will keep offering support and counting until you say "enough".
My family counted for several hundred days until it was under control for me, it became a faded memory.
I'm looking forward to my quitting and also dreading it, yikes.

Keep up the "strong will" Elorrum!! you're settin' a fine example for me!

Smoking is my ONLY bad habit and I WILL end it.
I've been cutting back a lot, soon it will end, cold, brutal turkey *shudder* no gimmicks (please, join us Larry!!)

This evening I added a big hill to my walk and ran into some burner kids throwing a party, they were spinning fire and one of them recognized me from BM! There are four Tahoe tribes here :) One for each shore.
NONE of them smoked cigs, very impressive! I don't bring cigs on my walks btw.
It was a good, small party....they are building a fire dancing stage for the playa!
It's going to have four walls, a square, four stages, N,E,S,W facing, also representing the four elements, covered in art work, kewl news!
Sucking smoke sucks!! Again, day 12, congrats! (soon, soon...me too)

I'm going to charge the battery for my commuter bike today, and get it ready for Monday. 9 miles to work, and two overpasses, the motor is nice, but it's just a helper. Makes the ride faster, but I still pedal. Gas saver for sure. Saving money on gas, and cigs, means something special new for August!

Cool, the commuter bike looks nice!

Please let us know how the new lung power works!!

I'm off for a walk, maybe on snow shoes today, sunny and warm.

I'm so happy for you Elorrum!

Word from inside the BMOrg a year or two ago -- on this forum -- was that The Hatted One had quit smoking. I sure hope he made it stick!

Good weather and daily walks for me now. Last time on the scale it said 202 pounds -- and that was with shoes and all. I feel certain I can get, and stay, well below 200.

Averaging 5 days a week on treadmill at 44 mins duration. Sometimes going for speed other times for hills and sometimes just walking to keep the habit going. Keeping the food diary. I think the food diary will help me keep on track for weight loss. Otherwise the workouts alone will just keep me at present weight. Lost 3 lbs, now to just keep the momentum going.

Ellorum...Fantastic!!!

Elliot...if you were only 2 lbs above 200 with all your clothes/shoes on then you're probably gonna ace your below 200 goal.

moon...you're probably burning a lot of calories tromping around in the snow, woohoo!

Yes, this medical clinic is always furiously busy, so I think they are happy just to check if there is a major change in weight.

But my real goal is 175. That would be in the "healthy" range for my height of just barely 6 feet on a good day. So I figure I'm half way there -- having been as high as 225 at times over the last 20 years.

Having grown up in Scandinavia, I have always been fond of the sweet crisp-crust breads that I grew up with, and with plenty of cheese piled on. I'd eat half a loaf just because it tasted so good. Maybe it reminded me of my happy childhood. Psychological Stuff like that can fool us into eating stuff that's not so good for us -- and/or too much of it. I think I have conquered both the bread and the ice cream, so this is going well!

The treadmill is so not me! But I am finding that it works for me, in improving my cardio. I get to the treadmill about 7 PM, in time for Jeopardy. I haven't managed to bring along a headset, but as soon as I remember it, I will play along with Jeopardy as I churn out a 10-minute mile.

I know many people my age and younger, who can't run at all, and I have to appreciate this and do what I can.

My goal is a 10 min mile by my birthday (June) not so sure if I can make that. I will be happy with 12. Right now I am at the 14 min mile and yes tv is a must while on the treadmill. I will listen to my ipod too but prefer the tv...may as well be moving my ass while watching the tube...

Hey Elliot, I like to bake bread. Talk about temptation. But cheese on the other hand isn't all that bad when it comes to calories.

i really wanted another cup of coffee today. (instant gratification)

instead i opted for a bowl of granola and a glass of water. (still feel like crap now, but will feel better for longer later without the crash at the end.)

i'm going to finish eating, do some yoga. and then if i _still_ feel like crap i'm going to have that second cup of coffee. i'll have earned it, and i won't crash so hard cause i have some actual fuel in me.

see, i consciously made a healthy choice today. :)

My progress came in the form of working with MyLarry on dad's house. We got a ton of stuff done, enough so I feel as if I've moved to the next stage. For me, this is a stress relief, which helps me be able to concentrate more on myself. Of course, I also brought home a pile of family crap to sort, but it is the last pile of crap.

I am worried, I am still coughing up phlegm from after my cold/flu over New Years. Starting to get the chest ache and soupy breathing, more so than the usual asthma irritation. I used to have chronic bronchitis, so I know what it feels like. It feels like this.

Good news is the scale is down 2 pounds. Water weight, but a decrease still.

Yay for you guys though. Good job on choices, and no smoking, and breaking out the bikes... yay!

Pudge won't budge...that's funny. I read somewhere that it takes 6 weeks to visibly see the changes that exercise does to your body. That's been my experience, too. I have to keep it out of my head and just keep working, knowing that I'll eventually see the difference, even though it takes time.
