All right, so that reminds me of the tire and wheel I launched over my house a few years ago -- with only compressed air.

hey now...........done right, it's just a little "puff" and the beads are seated.
and, not split rim wheels. valve stem valve out.
and on a cool day, it doesn't even work that great.

and wow, did the "upgrades" to my truck help!
I have a test hill, I use, to check if things are running right.
in my Dodge, I hit the mark at 60 mph, and know it's running ok if it's doing 65 at the top mark, and have almost hit 70 on "good days".
I hit that mark yesterday (testing the balance and ride of the newly installed tires) in my Ford with upgrades, and long before hitting the mark at the top, I let off the throttle because I was over 90 mph and still climbing! yikes!
and, that's with the "chip" set at the (+50 h.p.) setting. it also has 75, 100 and 140 (140 seems undoable, but, that's what they say).
no excess black smoke at the + 50 setting, either.

Gonna do a fuel mileage check to the airport in Sac and back, this morning.

magic........well, got a flat on the way to the airport this morning......dang, of course, with new tires. shredded the tire. I can't even tell if something punctured it or what. dang.
I had a tow truck, tow us to the airport, so she'd not miss her plane, then, I proceeded to change the tire.
Nice thing is, the place I bought the tires, well only charged me half, for a new one. Since there is nothing left, to know if it was a road hazard, or defective tire. And, they don't cover road hazard on 3/4 ton and larger pickups.

boy was it running fast and smooth up to that point, though.........sigh.

When we arrived downtown to start triangulating, we discovered that the broadcaster stopped at some point in the wee hours.

So, uh... hooray? On the plus side I got to work from a coffee shop for the rest of the morning before my lunch date!

I have helped build zip lines and other things with a "high ropes/confidence/team building company" designed a couple of tools and "obstacles".

Are you talking about getting one built at his house?

Well I saw that there are zip-line kits and I know that a friend attached one to a tree for her family
My son lives on a slope and I want to send a "continue to have fun" message
even with the responsibilities he has taken on

be really careful ASD!! Zip line, can be very dangerous. There's tons of stress on the cable, especially at center, connections and such are critical, as well as angle between the two points, and slack, so at the very end, you can slow instead of slamming into whatever it is. (only thinking of the kids, "safety third for us adults"), not to mention the pulley you're riding on and backup for same.

At a Red Bull Flugtag on a San Francisco pier a few years ago, there was a team that actually launched their "pilot" with a catapult. Not a trebuchet, for heaven's sake, but a pretty darn good catapult. The arm was a parallelogram mechanism, so that the pilot's chair remained upright during the throw. The power was the gravity of four big guys who held onto ropes and jumped together off the launch platform -- maybe 20 or 30 feet down to the water. Boy, did that pilot fly!

Oh.... Before the launch, the pilot displayed his red underpants, which could be seen to contain two bowling ball sized... uh... balls, presumably of solid brass.

Consider, sure. But time and money.... Too many projects already.

But my "navigator" Bob B. in this Kinetic Sculpture Race a few years ago has flow in two Flugtags. Good fun, he reported.

I've been bragging up Kinetic Sculpture Racing on this board since forever.
I rebuilt that one into a four-seater in 2007, and now it needs a thorough refurbishing. Good hobby.
