I suppose I shouldn't be surprise that spambots can take our language and regurgitate it back to us with advertising spliced in, but I was disgusted and angry that it should be the Captain's response to this year's death, and his hope that he never has to go through that with the First Mate. Is nothing sacred? No, I suppose not.

Hi Martiansky! Good to see ya!

*waves to Mohairs*

Yeah, Labor Day (first Monday in Sept) is Sept 1st this year, next year it's the 7th. A little extra time to prep I'd say.

Hey, all. It's been a lovely day in my corner of California. A bit too lovely for the likes of me, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Welcome back all you bar peeps. Yes - yes , a memorable burn this year, but next year was better. Rain, wind, dust, the man who would not fall, the twisting temple, and all the kind hearted ones that I found. It was one of my favorites. A little dusty on the way to burn night but it faded away at the proper time. It made me appreciate the trek, the journey, and the rewards of persistence. :coffee:

Welcome back everyone so far.
Still jelly I couldn't be there this year. Le sigh.

Can't wait to hear the awesome stories and see photos of everything!

I'm laying in bed and can't sleep. Have two big work possibilities ahead of me. I quit my job I had cause I'm sick of the food industry all together and I have lost my passion for hair. So moving forward in life. Major changes are happening.
Got my new SUV repairing johns credit so we can buy a house next year, or the very latest the year after that and just settling into life again. So ya, decided to make some changes. One you can't know about until the next burm and the other is totally shifting my work. I have applied for quite a few jobs but the two I'm crossing my fingers on is working at a psychiatric mental institution for children (PMIC facility) which is basically helping kids who have behavioral and mental disorders. I applied for two places here I'm town and the other being working for Nordstrums from home.great pay, huge room for advancement,PTO,full benefits and 401k. You know, "adult job"

So wish me luck! This would help john and I out a lot. Get us back on track... The American dream :)

What do we have around this joint to make me sleep!?!

An hour and 20 min!!

But on an up note... He wants to go for sure next year as long as I'm not preggers,

asked a fireman on the walk in to the centre after they dropped the perimeter and he said they had been expecting it to take 20 mins.

Exodus was better than I've ever experienced.

We were loaded up at 7:30 p.m. Monday, and then departed. By 9:30 p.m. we were at Oasis 29 consuming Indian Tacos just north of Nixon. The line moved continuously, and there were no stops. An hour from my camp to Gerlach. No "pulsing". I said last year that pulsing was a clusterfuck, and I'm happy to hear that enough people agreed that they didn't do it again this year. No 11-hour wait in line.

Thank you whomever is responsible, for 'getting it right' this time.

They didn't pulse because the line didn't demand it. From everything I've read, before they put in pulsing in '12? the line was hideous. Pulsing didn't take any less time, but it took less aggravation, fewer idling engines, and left room for people to get to the shitter and back without losing their ride, and to have more fun, chatting with neighbors.
I don't know what's different this year and last year, but I'm still sort of in shock.

Oh well clearly this is proof that the vehicle pass system made everything better. All the traffic issues were eliminated by that wonderful new piece of legislation. Obviously.
Boy was I ever wrong about that whole thing.

Getting off the playa was easy.. Did not stop once.. Getting to the Gerlach turn off was crazy stop and go for 11 miles.. I held back a 100 yards and idled along steady..

The most likely contributor is allowing people to stay and leave on Tuesday.
How much was contributed by using lights to get off the playa is interesting.

Those flagger know what they are doing..They work long hard dirty hours to help people get off the playa.. Some have been doing it for years.. The light had no effect on my exit.. Thank you flaggers. Job well done..

The extra day from the BLM was to lighten the pressure on the highways and it worked.. Next year people will fuck it up by staying longer..

The early start time had little or no effect.. Dumb asses just piled in the same as alway, only earlier.. The detention lot had a 100% more early vehicles than last year. I arrived four car behind when the gate opened..

unjon, the flaggers at 447 were GPE volunteers, not pros. One huge improvement that might be made is to add retroreflective stripes to the cones used for traffic control, and MAKE DAMN SURE THAT THE CONE LINES ARE MAINTAINED REGULARLY. There were too many cones that had been hit by vehicles passing previously to where occasionally you couldn't tell what lane you were in. Otherwise, a drastic improvement in gate travel time over previous years was welcomed by all on Exodus.

The extra day that BLM gave us had a little good effect, too.

I don't know what to credit either. Last year also was pretty smooth, and there was no pass system.

My traveling companion, Anne Marie, and I left BRC on Saturday at about 1:30 PM and had no wait whatsoever. We were lucky to get a not so good and expensive room in Sparks that evening and the shower there was just what the doctor ordered. Then on to the hot springs the following morning for Sunday soaking.

The contrast from the desert to the Sierra woods was almost surreal. Grass, trees, livestock and a mildly sulfur smelling mineral soaking pool of exquisite warmth was a so very welcome transition to the Defaultia of our daily lives. Got home at about 9 PM on Sunday after a fine Italian dinner in Davis, CA. The trip was so easy with no traffic at all. Bed at home with MDS (My Dear Spouse) (nomenclature thanks MDF) felt sublime. Didn't touch the computer until this morning to delete about 500 messages that had come in while I was away.

Camping in Hushville with Little Flower was, as always, such a sweet treat. I so enjoyed seeing so many of you. Ygmir, always more than a good buddy, helped me out when my ride broke down and Elliot was so very generous with his 24/7 generator that allowed me to keep my ride in juice the entire week. Such fun, seeing so very many of you. At risk of missing someone (due to a somewhat addled and ancient brain) I saw and hugged Jella, Figment, MDF, Lucky 420, Patsh, Misa, Sadie, Mary Animal, Robbie Dobbs, Sunbeam, Karine, Shambala, Simon of the Playa, Elorrum, Rhino, FigJam, J Kisha, Doc Pyro, Killbuck, Nilasnake, GreyDawg, Anti M, My Larry, Ratty, Geospyder, Vulture Chow and so many more. What a kick!!! A true gift to be a part of this diverse and creative community.

So, kiddies, keep on truckin' We'll see some of you during the year at the Bay Area shindigs and hopefully all of you at next year's MnG. How about it Fishy, Trillo, Piney, TITWI, Bin, Moonrise, BVB, TattooGoddess, Capt'n Goddamit and anyone else I may have missed

Hugs and warm wishes to all for a great 12 months until next the Man Burns!

Marty, you are too sweet. Thank you.
My instant reaction was something like: I'm not going where Piney is...
Trains can't lick me, but kicking me out of my village and not even telling me is so low that ... Well, I have no words. I'm sorry that the pain around that breach keeps me from so many good people, but I don't have it in me to start over. I tried last year, I tried. But despite the wonderfulness of Tamara, the Stallion, Lucky, Sadie, MDF, Tinkermom, International Incident (and I hate that name, because I know where she got it), Elorrum, and so many others, I just didn't have it in me to enjoy the thing. The Burning Man module of my heart is broken, broken, broken, and rather than wait around for it to heal, I'm just going to do my best to find my next thing.
The redwoods were nice. I'm sure we can meet again. Someplace were I don't feel raked over the coals even appearing at.
