hey there PM........
hahaha, you've had old VW's too?.............
in the past, I had several bugs, dune-buggy's and Baja Bugs.........
and, I can see you know your stuff, owing to the references to the exact emergency VW kit contents.
I did have one extra in the kit: Tequila, for when nothing else works.......
hahahahahaha

Yes, Ygmir, I come from a long long line of VW/Baja/Prosche mechanics.
Funny, that is where I got my mechanical knowledge, but osmosis learned really, cause the first thing I ever worked on was big chevy engines.
Then my oldest daughter got a basket case 1950 vw swtiched baja.
My dad came up for a weekend and brought with him every known part we could possibly need, for a complete rebuild...which we did.
I thought, after working on Big blocks it would be a piece of cake...hahaa.. wow, way to back up and look again.
Although the VW is one of the easiest engines, because of its ease, it has to be right on the money for adjustments.
I also learned how to dismantle a VW carberator using only the taillights screw....
yes, the screw from the tail light hardware also works as the tool to take out the ball bearing from the carberator! crazy shit!
haha

Ellorum, that can be a very trying an emotional event. What ever you do, don't be bashful about asking a lot of questions and be sure that the facility and its management can back up what they represent that they will provide. In my work I have visited many Nursing Homes and some Assisted Living facilities. There are differences and some are terrible and some reasonably ok. Let me know if I can be of some help providing insight.
Good luck

Yes, Ellorum, and please dont be affraid to ask the curent tennants if "they" like it. You will get some pretty straight forward answers from them.

Alzheimer's has an interesting way of lying to them.

good luck elorrum .... another note ... a friend of mine told me that his mother is treated better than most, due to his regular visits. they have to sign mom out every time she leaves, and in this medium-sized home - i am thinking maybe 50 residents - there were mostly only 2 names repeated over and over on that list. the rest of the elderly people were dropped in and rarely visited. it's so sad... but having her as close as possible will make her easier to visit.

Good morning all or good afternoon to gyre.
A little expresso would be a good pick-me-up. How's Goathead today?
Wow, pinemom, your knowledge is amazing! We pick up little bits of everything in life, don't we?
Good luck, elorrum. I've never been through that experience but have visited some of these places to interview older residents. Some are definitely better run than others.
