Good point, old bean. Less time required to set up and tear down. No bungees to trip over. Maybe just before the human battles start in the dome. The el sperm may be dissapointed as they really wanted to try and penetrate the dome.

I showed Killbuck your generous gift yesterday and we are both very grateful indeed. Any other suggestions on finding the precious software file so we can start programming?

...no ideas on the software file you need. Did Joel ever reply again? Perhaps an appeal to the greater Eplaya audience? A photo posted of the PCB with a closeup of any p/n's or manufacturer's info and a description of the filename, perhaps someone else here has the same 16-channel programmable invertor or knows who made it?

Seemingly like all things I throw away, I am really regreting tossing that broken laptop now (at least it was still functioning as a repository of the needed file, I think).

I think infinite resources would solve most of the my problems...

I placed my el order with Mike at WorldAglow/CoolightWest and he said he had a possible lead that software. Joel sent me some files but that was all he could find, not the display.exe so I also like your idea of posting here or on Tribe if it is still a no-go. Thanks again, Jafe. We'll solve the mystery soon.

Big Dale (Mr. Fixit) wrote me this:

"That Idiot light is from a dump truck to indicate that the dump bed "body" is still up in the air. Just perfect for a Mantis butt."

Mozy starts to reach for the head… then stops wondering if the head has its own power supply inside for operating the jaws. looks at his fingers Um …it's off right?

Thanks, Mozy and Robo. Kernul Killbuck is the artist who deserves the compliment, as the head is really been his bag. I really like the way he made it just cute enough to counteract the terrifying look with the jaws open.

He complimented me on my recent framing of the "bustle", which means a lot to me coming from an artist of his talent and despotic power. Working with Killbuck makes me hesitate to take chances sometimes as I tell myself he would do it better, but then I surprise us both and that's the joy of these mutual projects. We live a few miles away from each other so it makes sense for us to work on different parts and occasionally bring them together for a day at the slab.

A special thank you to the Burning Man Arts Council for awarding a grant to The Mantis Project. We are very grateful and appreciate the opportunity to start spending our beer money on PBR again.

I know that Beth Scarborough, Mark Van Proyen, Larry Harvey, Crimson Rose and LadyBee would have awarded money to lots more very worthy projects if they could have. For us the acknowledgement alone is a great reward for our work, but the dough sure helps.

Now we actually HAVE to deliver!

Mantis Sings

Head and mandible movements are a go with hand controls. Dig the new mini-movie:

You can see the loafing frame of MiniMan in the background.

For those of us who live near the playa or who own Learjets, Mantis has a gig in Reno tonight if we can cobble her together in time. Sneak Preview with the Munzbot at The Zephyr Bar, 1074 S Virginia St., Saturday, April 15th at 9:00 PM.

If she falls and squashes us, please notify next of kin.
