Saw a barrel on wheels as a stage prop ... on its side with a spigot at the end and cup hooks along the sides and a wagon tongue up front. Instanly forgot the action on stage while trying to figure out how to make one for playa use.

Mozy... What if you mount a barrel horizontally on an axle and wagon wheels and made it like a wheelbarrow? You could cut it in half lengthwise (or maybe a little less than half with the larger side being the bottom, thus allowing the sides to curve in a bit and hold the contents a little better). Then you could mount some hinges to it so that it opened up, sort of like how people make steel barrel smokers. Only it could be lined with padding and bright colored felt, and cradle booze!!! This would allow for better use of space, but you’d have to put lag screws through each band into every slat before slicing into it. Otherwise it’d fall apart when you cut it that way.

Just me daydreaming...

if the barrel was BIG enuff, the fold out parts could become seat, like bleachers around a central table

It seems like the best Ideas go through a process of expanding and contracting when they are being developed . The expanding part is the most fun before things have to be rained in by reality.

So I would like to suggest, the propane heaters Geekster mentioned in the bar thread is a dam good idea. One of those on a pole that could also be rigged for light would be the best. It gets really cold at night and it could make the difference between a good time and a not so good time . With heat people would linger, and get to know each other.

Keeping things as light as possible while giving your self every thing you want is going to be the trick, to really be portable you have to be able to move it . It would be best if it could be built on a trike, 2 wheels front or back, rickshaw , or a cart that could be pulled by a bike..... maybe not realistic but it would be the best.

Mozy, I really like it! It's mobile if we want to move it, or can be left set up, if no one wants to.

How about an idea for shade, that can be built mobile.....

We are always at 5:30 and "F" - we'd be glad to host a shift or three at Jungle Camp. I'll try to plan my greeters shifts around bar hosting times. Have an RV with an oven so can produce yummy morsels.

My .02$ I would like to see it in one spot I think if it moves we will not have the same sort of community and a sense of home, place to come back to and check in so to speak, A place to maybe find another playa pal to go explore with, A place to just hang and watch the people go by, a place to find familiar support, a place to hang your head for a moment, A place to leave notes, snacks and gifts for others.
And trying to find it in a new BRC place could become a chore.

I am still willing to ask the AEZ for a little road frontage and push my truck and tent to the back of this real estate. AEZ gets a good location usually. last year I was at 7:30 and C and the JOTS were right across and down the road a bit.

I am also still willing to pull out and camp with the others that have expressed interest in a "Bar" theme camp such as TITWI, RobbiDobbs.

It would also increase security of the "stash" since fellow AEZ'ers or "BAR" Campers would help watch over it and combined with BBSues lock box combo idea would leave us pretty safe.

With Mozy's Bar ideas and TITWI shade structure combined this would be a real asset the the community.

rockdad -

i think that makes a lot of sense. and i am inclined to think that y'all would take real good care of the place. plus, yer just a hop from my home village and it would be easy for me to pop in more often!

i like it back on 'c', but still near the center of town. accessible, but not TOO visible...

and i love the barrels & bartop...storage, simple, portable...mozy's a freakin genius.

betcha there'd be lots of drop-ins who would then become eplayans....

Well Tisha I love the backing from the Chief Indian since I am sort of a newbie scout still... If the real warriors(Mozy, BC, Bin, Z, LCN etc) and medicine men/women(BBSue, Robbi, Fishy, Lorgasm/Zoom, Sput etc) would chime in we could start making it happen.
In the meantime I am going to ask the Mayor of AEZ about the road frontage to see if it is even possible. If it is not possible in the AEZ then we can start checking out other options for real estate.

What about "stay in one spot 98% of the time, and yet be mobile to if so desired"? Like on Thursday night at the Meet & Greet? Our camp is always around 7:00 and 5th street out (Ego last year), so this would make it easy for me to swing by also. Lots happening this year for our crew, but if its close, it’d be much fun to just swing in and help/sit/laugh for a bit before going off to something else. I could at least bring supplies (ie boubon and morsels).

One thought I had...

If you place it right on the street, you can bet on lots of people coming by and lots of stuff being consumed pretty quickly, but I don’t like the idea of making it a private thing, either. Just like The Bar thread, it should be open to anyone. So... if its set back from the street just a bit, it’d make it more private without actually making it exclusive. Perhaps giving an atmosphere more akin to here, and yet welcoming and open to anyone who stumbled across it or took the time to seek it out. Just like finding it here on the board.

Maybe a little sign on the street that reads, “Tisha’s” with an arrow?

I’d be willing to make a really nice copper sign for that.

Hey,
Zoom and I have been having our little mini meetings on the subject. We've been having some cool ideas. I would like him to let you know what he is thinking.

I'm no "handy man" myself (but I'm willing to learn). I see myself more of a decorator/ painter persay. I just go and see where my creative juices take me.

Right now I see me bringing some pillows, games, spirits, bubbles, treats for the "kiddies".

Okay Zoom....balls in your court...Oh Zoom. Come out, come out, where ever you are.......

Okay here's my deal about the playa/event this year.

Scott was the burner, not me and we always camped with the medics. I wasn't going to do that again, and we were still in the discussion stage. I expect that by the time the playa rolls around, I will have sold the truck. So I'll need ride up and back. I will also need to be in a supportive camp. I never really got the radical self-reliance thing down and being on playa again is going to hit me hard. I've also always had issues with heat and altitude. So if hanging around in a shade struckture being slightly odd is a contribution, I may be able to pitch in. Somebody should check in reguarly to see that I'm eating and hydrating and that I"m not too glum.

I may end up being more of a burden than a help.

RockD, I think I would give you more like .25Cent worth. Finding good real estate would be Primo Povera....

Still like the idea of going "mobile" :) On the playa  one night.....

I do not know about a ride since I have a two person truck and no idea where you are etc.
But I am sure everyone in Bar camp would keep you hydrated, and sprinkle some fish meal in your tank and try to deglum you...

partially mobile sounds excellent...and fishy, i think we'd all be happy to check in on ya every so often. especially if you were an honorary bar-sitter.

if i may chime in about the name...??? i keep telling y'all that this place isn't 'mine', it's YOURS! i don't feel right about my name being on it...especially since i'm not able to really set it up. i like calling it The Bar. or (on the real playa) The Eplaya Bar, maybe...
