Without going into details, let me just say that once I played very, very dumb and walked out alive... which wasn't that big an option when the event was in it's initial stages.... yeah, stupid works."Always appear stronger than you are when you are weak, and always appear weaker than you are when you are strong."
Do you enjoy being underestimated?

Actually (puts on serious scholar pose) Sun Tzu recomends it in The Art of War.

Actually it would. Although, I think that the overt politicality of that wouldn't really get it off the ground in "real" terms.gigglesnort wrote:Not that I know anything, being such a dipshit newbie and all, but The Art of War would make a very interesting theme for 2005, IMHO.
And somewhere out there there would be a war of art camp.

I think hte political undertones would provide plenty of heat, and I can think of nothing better I would like to throw into a sacrificial transformational fire. Conflict burns, baby!theCryptofishist wrote:Actually it would. as J.R. "Bob" Dobbs teaches us: If you act like a dumbshit, they'll treat you like an equal.
Sometimes just showing up will give you an opportunity to show all the posers that you really DO know what-the-fuck you're talking about. I learned this year that I get a lot more communication mileage when I use fewer words.
And sometimes the most compassionate thing to do is to give them a swift boot to the head.

I enjoy that...

I love to be underestimated because it gives me a better chance of shocking and surprising everyone. Humility is a key that fits MANY locks!

I don't so much as like or dislike being underestimated as much as I rely on it. It is kind of like drawing an opponent into a trap ... they get in deeper and deeper and deeper. But rather than spring the trap, I like it better when they suddenly realize their flanks are dangerously exposed and withdraw hasitly of their own accord. It builds character and doesn't embarrass anyone in public.
