Actually (puts on serious scholar pose) Sun Tzu recomends it in The Art of War.

"Always appear stronger than you are when you are weak, and always appear weaker than you are when you are strong."

Without going into details, let me just say that once I played very, very dumb and walked out alive... which wasn't that big an option when the event was in it's initial stages.... yeah, stupid works.

Not that I know anything, being such a dipshit newbie and all, but The Art of War would make a very interesting theme for 2005, IMHO.

Actually it would. Although, I think that the overt politicality of that wouldn't really get it off the ground in "real" terms.

And somewhere out there there would be a war of art camp.

I don't so much as like or dislike being underestimated as much as I rely on it. It is kind of like drawing an opponent into a trap ... they get in deeper and deeper and deeper. But rather than spring the trap, I like it better when they suddenly realize their flanks are dangerously exposed and withdraw hasitly of their own accord. It builds character and doesn't embarrass anyone in public.
