And I'm having trouble following this thread too!

You have no idea how this makes me laugh.
Dork wrote:Unfortunately this is only the latest example. He has some issues with reality that go beyond the scope of even this board, so we made the decision to remove him.
Most of his posts still exist. If anyone feels anything should be removed, let myself, AntiM, or mdmf007 know and we'll deal with them on a case by case basis.
I hope we can all try to move on.
We're cool, let's get on without all o' dat' .Kinetic V wrote:Oneeyeddick, now that I know who you are, and the art that you produce....I misunderstood the clip. I apologize for calling you out in public...my apologies.
I got this image of someone who looks like Dork's avatar in a TuTu, as he curtseyed, raised on his ballet slippers to his toes and "Gracefully" declined.Dork wrote:Only if I'm allowed to gracefully decline, then wait for the proper moment to run away without causing offense.oneeyeddick wrote:Thank you so much Dork, can I offer you a blowjob ?

I couldn't agree more!wedeliver wrote:Why does someone need a sock? A sock is bullshit. A sock is deception. I think they are crap and the people that need and use them loose a lot of my respect. (if I know who they are, or think I know)

There actually is a camp that does "Tutus at two". The one in that picture looks a lot like the one my partner made a couple of years back. this is what burning man is all about. not socks, but tutus
If only I were able to grow a lush beard like that, perhaps my dreams of becoming a ballerina could have come true. But, alas, it was not to be.wedeliver wrote: I got this image of someone who looks like Dork's avatar in a TuTu, as he curtseyed, raised on his ballet slippers to his toes and "Gracefully" declined.

A quick visit to a costume shop to address the beard concerns before leaving for the playa and the simple expression of a wish might be just enough to arrange for such a dream to become reality. The playa provides for even the craziest wishes.Dork wrote:If only I were able to grow a lush beard like that, perhaps my dreams of becoming a ballerina could have come true. If the below quote and the posts that preceded it are what precipitated this thread, here is my two cents.
No, I don't this it is a violation of the TOS at all...I think it is the person who posted the below quote that has a misunderstanding of the purpose of this forum as it exists.
Now, that being said, here is my solution. I think it could be a good idea to have 'private' threads here on eplaya for such purposes of discussing plans for a large camp. It could help to nurture community and give camps a place to post and plan.
These 'private' threads can either be totally private, in that only invited users could view and post in them; or they could be 'semi-private' where everyone could read them, but only invited users could post in them.
My preference would be for the semi-private, in that all users could be privy to what some of the camps are doing and possibly increase their interest in joining. They could then request permission to join and become a member of that thread.
This way, everybody is happy and people wouldn't have to worry about drifting a thread that was intended to be more serious and targeted.
JKIt appears that I must abandon this thread-- a thread I started for APOKILIPTIKA 2009.
I do so with some regret, but seeing as how this thread has become infested with various socks, it is quite impossible to use it for it's trusted original and intended purpose-- a dialog for our plans in 2009. That purpose is obviously defunct. This is indeed the reason for my prolonged absence.
So, I bid farewell to this thread, and instead shall wander here and there on occasion in other locations.

Lots of good things may have logistical problems that create some headaches--like dust storms on the playa for instance. I'd be happy to volunteer to moderate or administer the private groups, if it is too much work for current moderators.AntiM wrote:Unlike Tribe or facebook, the eplaya is not set up to have member groups. It could, but private groups would be an entirely new headache. If you want such things, there are sites you can do it other than the eplaya.
that's what the other hand is for.oneeyeddick wrote:How can you do all that with one hand all busy like that ?
....................just wondering
I'm not sure of how granular this version of the phpBB is, but options on the new version and last version can have 'semi-private' boards...i.e. everyone can read them, but only people that request and are granted membership can post in them.AntiM wrote:You'd have to approach the admins, J. The mods are pretty low on the food chain, except Dork. He's the super-mod. All major changes are up to the folks at the top. We've discussed a commercial zone, but it didn't happen. Is that good or bad? I don't know.
I could moderate private groups, I have time. Personally, I've not thought through all the ramifications of private groups on the eplaya and the community. I can easily see several sides to the issue. I just am sensitive to the suggestion today as I am on another board which allows private groups. Someone found a way in to some of them and reposted some extremely nasty personal attacks. The uproar is disruptive and ugly. Private groups here would possibly require a different level of moderation. You can tell people to play nice, you can ask, but unless the mods have the power to enforce, it is a futile exercise.
