Harping on producers for not being able to do anything in realtime is like slamming Ludwig Beethoven for a lack of improvisational skill (actually I don't know if he could improvise).
Very interesting out look on the concept!
Though, I'd say that the difference is that a symphony practices for months, then does it live, so there is still room for error, but by not screwing up they show their skill.
People would not go see a symphony if they practiced and recorded 25 versions of the same music, then remastered and cut together the perfect version, and then just hit play.
By recreating the same music live you show that you have the skills to do it, and it might be a little different than it was on the album.

Hell yeah, there is nothing wrong with a great stage show. Besides for the fact that Tool is an awesome band, their stage shows/ light shows are epic. Entirely different genre of music, but same concept: "People like to listen to our music high, so lets give them some awesome visuals to make the show even more appealing"
Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

Speaking of TOOL, did you notice how much of it was being played last year? It was awesome for me, being a HUGE Tool fan when I would faintly hear it, then it gets closer and there's no mistaking it. I even found a camp that ONLY blasts Tool, The Fall-Out Shelter. Very cool dudes, indeed.
Did someone say Crisco-Twister???

Agreed! Fall-Out Shelter was just up the street from me, we had a couple of the guys over for dinner one night.

What I heard at least once a day, and in different parts of the city was that old Cranberries song 'Zombie' What was with that?
What other people think about you is none of your business.
