Greg, Use of drones at Burning Man relates to all public safety. The event has always been about having fun safely for families & individuals. I am guessing you've come only this past year to Burning Man and might not be on our official newsletter the Jack Rabbit Speaks where the event policies and meetings to contribute to policies are announced. I do hope for the sake of all drone users that you're able to collaborate with the organization and other users so we can keep drones at Burning Man.

I understand your advice. I did not know about the rules when I made the flight as they had not been widely circulated, at least not to me. The flight I made at WO was at the request of the DJs playing & the owners of WO. I flew with prop guards & stood underneath the craft when hovering low. To me and those involved it was an acceptable risk for the video. I now see that Burning Man does not see it the same way as they move to being a more safe, family friendly event. Thanks for the input.

Hi Greg, You should familiarize yourself with the Black Rock City UVA guidelines. [Google for "Burning man drones guidelines"] It's not safe to fly over crowds of people like that (what if one of your motors burns out or a gust of wind picks up and you cash into someone?) Please keep these in mind when flying at future events.
