The Bar 2019 Edition...
Re: The Bar 2019 Edition...
Thing the first: Thanks, Skuzzy, for sharing how humor grows from the wicked capricious fuckery of how the world works, that snaps us to, from time to time, totally unexpected. Until gravity has had it's fill, we can only try and dance with it.
Thing the second: I believe a long line of shots shall be poured for this afternoon and evening. I can't remember if it was Irish, or Jack, for that young man.
Thing the third: no thing 3 as yet, will notify

Physics be damned! I'll beat that damn gravity one day! *slogs another shot*
Ya know? Gravity ain't got poop on the ability of human beans to circumvent reality to the point where we really could believe we beat gravity. Perception's a warm blanket on a cold night.

To MikeGyver. A young man who would watch and usually speak second, with well considered words. Could make it, or fix it, kept a very good all purpose tool kit, and I never heard him complain. A great loss, and My heart goes out to his family and all his friends.
Skuzzy, also remember momentum, that beast needs to be sated as well as gravity, before the outcome can be known.

Hi Fishy, I haven't seen you around these parts in quite some time. Yes, the BLM is working on screwing up a good thing. Cement barriers around the entire event--which are substantially easier to get over than the orange construction fence.theCryptofishist wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 6:21 pmYou've probably seen this already...

I am crushed to hear about MikeGyver's loss. I wasn't lucky enough to be close friends, but he was kind and sweet and gave good hugs. I can't believe the news.
I'll raise a glass to him tonight.

(Cc glides into the Bar. Grabs a towel and wipes down the tabletops and picks up any MOOP around. Refills the peanut, pretzel & yummy snack bowls. Shines the playa dust off the full length mirror in corner. Checks to see that ingredients are iced & fresh for Bloody Mary's. Makes sure the jukebox is in good working condition. Makes a fresh pot of coffee, pours himself a cup and sits on barstool to relax..)

Hi Cc! thanks for the coffee and snacks, and all the clean up! wow! *looks in the freshly polished mirror, sees no reflection*
Yay for a day off!
I'm moving slow this morning, fell about 50 small trees yesterday, prepping for fire season. Mostly cedar, it burns the best and the small ones create "ladder fuel", which then crowns in the larger trees.
Walking up and down the steep slope on the back of my property (@45deg.) with a chainsaw cutting, beat me up. Dang this getting old and feeble...

Re: The Bar 2019 Edition...
Funny you should mention trees and chainsaws. Two days ago I was up in my walnut trees doing some high deadwood limbing. I had my phone in my pocket with 911 set on "impact-speed dial". This place got an espresso machine? I gots one, want me to bring it in?

Re: The Bar 2019 Edition...
Couple days ago, I saw an animated video clip of a proposed "collision air bag" system for motorcyclists.
In the animation, the rider wore the device somewhat like a belt, and when the front wheel of the motorcycle struck a car... an intricate arrangement of air bags enveloped the rider before he himself struck the car.
You guys ought to volunteer for field testing this invention!

In unrelated news....
(* enters Bar, looking dazed... looking emotionally overloaded *)
Friends, I may need a bit of help today.
I'm hearing voices.
No, wait... one voice. Only one voice, but very persistent. It says...
"Build me! Build me! Make me pretty! Install me on a green pole slightly S-shaped, and give me life so I can turn frowns into smiles!"
I don't know what to make of it, friends.
I see an image too -- with my eyes closed, I mean.
Looks like a pile of junk sailboards up to 12 feet long, with other junk on top. And four more sail-boards in the background.
What should I do???
(* sits, buries face in hands -- presumably studying the unseen image *)

Re: The Bar 2019 Edition...
Ha, ha, now I have heard everything!
You mean that if someone were to slice those eight sail-boards into 16, and scraped out the foam, and fiddled with them for a while, maybe glued in a few circles of old tooth-brushes and more junk, and tossed some paint at it... the result could become something like this -- 12 feet in diameter?!
Bwuahahahah... never happen. Nobody ever does anything that.

Re: The Bar 2019 Edition...
.
Well, I'm thinking... turn the eight sail-boards into 16 sail-boards by ripping them -- kind'a like resawing a wide wood board on a band saw.

And remove the foam. Then start fitting the 32 petals into a semblance of a flower, maybe 12 inches or so thick in the center.
Mount to a steel ring from one of those "rebounder" miniature trampolines -- couple feet in diameter.
Finally build the center with maybe 100 tooth-brushes for stamens -- no, larger than tooth-brushes. Something else in that vein for carpels.
Sounds like maybe... 50 hours?
There is an annual sculpture walk in a public woodland park near here. The park was leveled in the 2015 fire, and this year is the first year the Eco Arts sculpture walk returns. They like big art made of found and repurposed materials.
And just because I can think of it, does not mean I have to do it. LOL
