Morning Bar!
Went to the Morris last night. Volunteered at the I Heart a Rock and Roll party last night. Much fun.
It's really fun to be involved there and feeling lucky to have this amazing place so close to my home...
Nap time will be happening later

After writing and erasing several times, suffice I need coffee and aspirin.
Last night was let's say interesting. I probably should tidy up here while the coffees working.

Coffee, and a fire, thanks bar peeps!
mmm, bypassed cheap chocolate day yesterday, don't want to be tempted, so I will avoid the CVS, Wallgreens, Save-on, and whatever other chocolate traps are out there.
resounding Hell NO to decaf coffee. I'm with you on that MDF. I mean, what's the point? That is what herbal tea is for, and I like it much more.
Episode 7 Downton is streaming on PBS so I'll check that out sometime today. Dang, the season's so short for that show.

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
My gf and I don't normally do the default holiday stuff, but I couldn't help myself and got her a little gifty this year, a little teddy bear...

Otherwise, we just had another great weekend of being dorks. We worked on art, made a couple good meals, and then went out for much of the day on Sunday. Her ankle is still on the mend. Her doctor says the bone is healing perfectly, and so now it's making sure she gets plenty of exercise with walking and stretching and whatnot so that the muscles and tendons that atrophied while she was in the 'boot' thing get back to full strength. She's doing okay with all the walking she normally does both on her commute and at work, but want to get out and about on the weekend.
Sunday we meandered down to the Ferry building to get some treats for a breakfast thing she's doing with her coworkers this week, and then we decided to venture on down to the wharf. Even though it was valentine's weekend, I still think it's kind of off-season and so the popular tourist destinations aren't too crowded. We headed over there and went just past the wharf itself to a stretch of great restaurants. After a few drinks and nibbles it was still gorgeous out and we wanted to do some more wandering, so we headed up the hill to Ghirardelli square. Wow, that place was packed. I guess they're remodeling a part of the square so more of the chocolate craziness was packed into less space, and it looked like the whole city was queued up to get ice cream sundaes. Neither of us was interested, but we did grab an assortment of the little squares to take away home. Then just as we were leaving, the transit gods smiled upon us and a bus heading in our direction pulled to the corner. That got us to a station where the muni line that runs close to us stops, and we made our way home in no particular rush. A great day and great weekend overall. Now it's a new week, time to dive in and get 'er done. Cheers!

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
Our buses have strange Sunday and holiday schedules. I can't get anywhere on them easily, and the route near my house is gone. I miss Muni, and it has been 40 years since I rode it everywhere possible. I used to scrounge transfers and just ride, and sometimes I would spare change until I got fare home. Ah, youth.
Larry was home, but he had walked up from where he parked the semi, so we were running around in the pick up truck instead of the little car. Errands, a couples massage, and a Panda Express meal because we were all oily, in loose clothes, and looked too homeless for a "real" meal. Still, Panda is pretty fresh and I can get steamed veggies. Yum. Massage was great, I got one of the few therapists who is licensed in Utah to do lymphatic massage. Whoot.

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
Sounds like a nice day!
At times I love, and at times I hate SF's transportation system. Having gotten big doses of NYC's and a little taste of London's I really wish we had something really awesome... but having also gotten a fair dose of LA's, and seen just how meh-tastic things are in a bunch of other metros I'm grateful for what we've got. Make no mistake about it, Pani and I are spoiled. Within about 5-6 blocks from our door there are stops for Caltrain (the big commuter rail system between SF and San Jose), Muni (the above/below ground subway-ish system), and at least half a dozen bus lines. We do have a van but use it minimally, we take mass transit whenever we can. We're dorks, and kind of enjoy it.
Speaking of dorks who enjoy things, we got word that Eddie Izzard is coming to town in a few months. We love his work, and can't wait for that show.

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
YES! I've come crawling back to you. Thanks for the hugs and good wishes - they have been very effective streaming in from far and near. Doing well at home, last of the bandages and hoses are off, oh, that hot shower was the most wonderful thing after a month of washcloth wipe-downs. Life is good, even without a stomach, gall bladder, spleen, left adrenal gland and most of the pancreas. Who knew? Most surprisingly, I'm hungry all the time. HUNGRY! With all the nerves and other bits and pieces that have been cut or removed, the "hungry" signal is always on and the "full" signal is always off.
Oh, my dear friends - I am one happy, lucky guy. I gotta go eat again. And then into the NEB - it's cold and snowing here in Maryland.

We are so proud of you for toughing this out.
You remind us, vividly, to hold each day in earnest, and every moment precious.
I wish you a full recovery, and many, many happy days to come!
