Yikes Fishy, that's an odd and sad one, alright. It could make for great material in an art piece reflecting on that era's views on mental illness, but otherwise it seems mind-bogglingly sad.

I'm getting near the end of a long day here. On the up side my gf had the day off, on the downside it was because we had to take our older cat into the vet for some additional bloodwork. Poor guy's been through the ringer lately. He's still generally happy and energetic and playful, but absolutely hates having to take pills. It's funny that normally he's always trying to find a way to get out the door of the loft and he likes playing with the cat carrier when it's in the loft (he even naps in it if we leave it out), but put him in it and take him out of the loft and he meows loudly to protest and wants nothing more than to get back home again.

Aside from taking care of that, it's been a pretty good day. I helped Pandorra prep a design for the shopbot (she recently got certified and booked some time to make something on Sunday), then worked on art most of the day. Some stuff I ordered earlier in the week showed up as expected today, and we made progress on designs for playa gifts and whatnot. Finally kicking back with a(nother) cocktail, wrapping up a couple things before heading off to bed. I want to get an early-ish start tomorrow and hit up a couple lumber yards and get a bit of stuff done before getting cleaned up to head to a wedding.

benefit to living in a hotel: you can take as many long ass showers as you want, whenever you want and without fearing to use up all the hot water!

plus, someone else cleans the towels! hooray.

2 weeks in and its pretty comfortable, would be better if this place had room service!

but a kitchen is ok enough...

yikes I missed the moon, but I was on the road to see a nice sunset. I had a very convivial and lovely meal last night with some favorite eplayans and friends hosted by Ugly Dougly, with visiting Nilasnakes and Killbuck. Lot's of interesting talk. A big sturdy wooden dining table is all you need. Now I need to make something, and revisit the Four Corners area and see Lake Powell.

Good Saturday evening to you all! I am still working but in 30 more minutes will be done here. Currently hiding out in my mom's basement

horrible thing to do on a beautiful sunny day, huh? But I am "babysitting" while my sister is out of town and could not get out of a 12 hour telecommuting shift, so... told her I was "going to work" today and stayed out of sight. So far it has worked well. My guys have been keeping her company for me and I can see the sparkling sunshine on the water outside the window.

But I am really really ready to sit on the deck and watch the sunset, with about 6 cocktails...

We had a beautiful moon here last night, above thin clouds. Good to know you were having fun Elorrum! I got roused out of bed 3 times after midnight to "check the furnace" since Mom was cold.

I am hoping for a nice day here tomorrow! If it's warm enough I will wash the cars.

Wow, MDF. What a strange work day for you. about 6? about 6:pm.? or about 6 cocktails?

I saw a woman last week, standing over over a seated elderly lady on the electric shopper mobility scooter. The younger woman was riding, balancing and steering and saying with exasperation "for the third time" that no they were not there to buy new patio furniture. I wanted to give her a hug.
In any case, enjoy the deck, and the evening. I am working tomorrow, so today I just enjoyed the quiet. Tomorrow is going to be a type of too many people day, and it takes all my nerve on holiday weekends to remain polite. I cannot say to the one hundredth nasty person that they have broken the last straw. On Friday I said to a man who was asking me about specs on a special order microwave, "You must remember that I did offer to help you by first saying that I knew very little about these things..." prices dimensions, mounting options, etc. These things I can find out. Expecting me to know the design trends for whether stainless steel will be in fashion much longer, or will white make a come back, is wow... they must expect bullshit at that point, right? When it is busy, and there are no specialists available, I am caught out going through an area of the store I don't have expertise in. I will open and read the catalog with customers as I would myself when shopping, or log on to a computer and start searching, and that seems to be more than they can do for themselves, but still much less then they expect from me.

But what is horrible about that is, afaict, that she wasn't allowed to keep them with her. They just put her suitcase away and she never saw it again. The photos, too.

I believe that I saw an exhibit like this on loan to the Exploratorium a few weeks ago. It is heart breaking to think of the human behind these very sparse belongings. I seem to remember that much of this happened many years ago when views of "mental illness" were more primitive than they are now. Also, some of those deemed mentally ill, were indeed not mentally ill at all, but simply locked up and forgotten by all. Yes, very sad indeed.

Sorry about work situations, (((((MDF & Elorrum))))) Will deliver the real (((()))))s when next we see one another!!!

Found some ok frozen hash browns.

Put one on the plate, place 2 jimmy dean sausage patties on the hash brown, and cover with a bowl so's not to spatter the inside of the nuker.

Set for 1.40 minutes.

NEVER WASH YOUR EGG PAN!!!!!!!!!!

Little butter in the pan and I can flip the eggs without a turner.

By the time the tatoes and sausage are done, so are my over easy eggs.

Elapsed time, 3 minutes.

Wipe the pan with a paper towel and put it away.

Clean up is just the bowl, plate, and fork!
