Dang it COLD!!
Annnnd we begin another season of the dog eating the styrofoam fuacet covers...one down.

We are screening The Wizard of Oz this week-end...can't wait to see it on the big screen.

BUT THEN (cue music of doom) the ballet arrives on Monday... all. week. long. (shoot me now)
the Buttcracker performs next weekend. It will be sparkletastic. We have come to expect glitter clogged drains in the dressing room sinks....bobby pins clogging up the vacuum cleaners....entitled little rich girls don't give a crap..

Ah well...it will be over soon enough.

Sadie, I feel your pain.

**Rhino's voice returns to normal**

If you want to have an inner smile going on while you're watching the Nutcracker Suite, think about me and my buddy Sal. He's Italian from St.Louis, and a prominent pharmacist here in Columbia. A really nice guy. He and I have been buddies ever since we went to see professional wrestling events together out of town. We even saw an episode of Monday Night 'Nitro' in Kansas City when WCW was still ruling the ratings back in the early 90s. It was the first time I was exposed to the variety of tailgaters and tailgating fare that Kansas Citians are rightfully famous for. Normally, they have HUGE tailgating parties when the Kansas City Chiefs are playing. But on that fall afternoon, the tailgaters were all out in the parking lot of the municipal auditorium, cooking up ribs and brisket and pork steaks, feeding everyone...now I see what John Madden loved about Kansas City in its heyday during the Lenny Dawson era. Anyway, to make a long story short, Sal and I saw WCW in Kansas City, and WWE right here in Columbia. The performers try so hard to maintain a character. We normally had a great time laughing at their antics.

I got tickets to an upcoming WWE event that occurred right before the Nutcracker Suite performance at the University, and Sal already was going to the Nutcracker with his wife. I told him he could go the wrestling event right before the Nutcracker, and he bowed out reluctantly, but in his usual hilarious style told me of the consequences IF he tried to go see 'rasslin BEFORE the ballet.....

"....yeah, Rhino, I can see it now coming straight from the WWE event....I'm holding a hand-lettered sign midway through the ballet, with my fist held high, yelling 'Tin Soldiers RULE!' at the top of my lungs, looking down on the performance from the cheap seats in the balcony...I don't think my wife would approve."

But the thought was there.

Sadie, I busted up laughing when I read this!
I know you probably don't find it funny though...sorry.

I was working in Brownwood, TX from the end of Jan this year until about the middle of july.
Drove up to Abilene a few times, ate at a wonderful mexican restaurant near the mall.
Nice change to spend the winter in TX instead of here in MN. Of course it did snow there one day!

Unjon, hang in there and stay warm!
Congrats VC & Grai

Morning everyone!

Thanks for the coffee Ygs.

Sorry I missed you last night martiansky.

Well Ellorum is on her way.....weeeeeee! She stayed over last night and I helped her repack/organize all the things. She ended up leaving a whole sanchez head pile of stuff here but her little house car is much more efficient and roomier now. It was a great evening full of talk and laughter. Asked her to keep us updated. Next stop Boise and then she's really hitting the wild blue yonder...

Snowing. One pot of tea after another. Trying to recover a dicked partition on a friend's Macbook Pro... I repaired the video chip issue with no problem, but about 5 test reboots and a day later, the system folder decided to go tits-up. Diagnostic software shows hard drive corruption so intense it makes Chicago politics look like a Disney adventure. I've been working with these machines for almost 20 years and if I can't manage to recover this, I'll be supremely heartbroken, because it'll be the first time ever.
So, while the software churns, I find other things to tinker with.

G'morning bar .... it's january here ..... eeek please tell me we won't have 3 more months of this!

Elorrum just headed off towards Laramie. last night we spent some quality time looking for interesting sights along I84 & I80 between Boise and Chicago, but the pickins looked pretty slim, as they say. there is an exotic dirt museum in Nebraska, and a giant Strawberry in Wyoming.... if anyone has any ideas for her, please post them! i think she decided last night to just get to Quebec ASAP.... which means 3-4 days.

hope everyone has a great day!

Once again, great minds think alike. I'm drinking a mug of tea with honey this morning.

Ever since I was introduced to body painting -- both doing the painting and being painted -- by a friend in Buddha Camp in 2013, I have wanted to add this to our camp's art-forms. Anybody here have knowledge of suitable paints? I have searched the interweb and found a variety, but have not been able to make up my mind. The most common types come in ridiculously tiny portions, for face painting by children. I think I saw one type that came in quarts, but the price was huge.
And selection of chemical composition is important -- for the health of the "canvas", and for quick drying, and for reasonable durability, and finally for easy washing-off.
I believe there is a body painting camp in Barbie Village. Anybody know them?

My brother is in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at the moment, planning to tour the Corvette factory Tuesday. The distance from Bowling Green to LeChatNoir & Karine's studio is just shy of 150 miles. ....
