Are you sure you don't mean where in the Bible does Jesus instruct you on how to treat your slaves ?

slaves were not banned in the Bible.. they were sanctioned... but the slavery in the Bible was not lifetime servitude but only for a time - like indentured servitude for payment of something thing (money borrowed, services rendered or criminal activity that didn't require the death penalty). like passage to America often came with a time period of service to be payed off...

and yes, I have typos... gee..

slavery was in both the old and the new testament. Jesus said if one is a slave then be a good slave. The old testament goes over the slavery stuff better - as I remember.

But then I have quite a bit of port in me right now... so my mind is a lttle fuzzy.

It says in the Old books that you can smack them around to keep them in place,

Very good Dicky... If I do say so myself...

I am watching Rome - the series - from HBO right now on Netflix... anybody else seen it? It is very well done...

I want some slaves... I'd be kinda nice to them, but not really. I'd make them work - hard.

:P

Jesus doesn't say that. At best Ephesians was Paul, or maybe a false Paul, I can't keep up with this. And who knows who wrote Acts or when it was written. The whole "Jesus" concept is fuzzy enough, I'm really don't like ascribing words of possibly Paul and possibly Peter to Jesus.

I do think a clear definition of slavery would be appropriate at this time.

Twisting the word slavery into something like 'indentured servant
only benefits the ego of the slave.
It is what it is, slavery. They used whips back in those days also.

Yes but if I had to pick - I'd pick indentured servant because that is only a slave for a time to pay off a debt

While slavery - as practiced in the South and Roman - was Slave for life unless the Master set you free

I seem to recall something about labor camps here in the USA after the abolishment of slavery that used an indentured servant tactic. Basically the land owner would charge the workers more for rent and sundries than the worker made hence placing the worker in a perpetual debt to the land owner basically making them slaves. Let's not gloss over it, slavery is slavery.

okay - let's be honest then.

What is the current credit system then? Isn't that slavery?

How about a job? Isn't that slavery?

How about family? Isn't that slavery?

Pretty much anything a person feels that they have to do - Isn't that slavery?

Slavery is alive and well and living in the USA - and around the world.
