I just had a perfect week at work! I was running an adventure/nature themed summer camp and we spent every day hiking around the extensive river valley in our city. We found animal skeletons, caught frogs, skipped rocks, split stones open to find quartz crystals, climbed down into ravines, bushwacked through forests (my legs are scratched to ribbons), organized a giant orienteering course for the kids, and generally just explored everything in the area. Then today I on a whim started searching for fossils with the kids on the side of the river. They fetched broken, jagged rocks for me and I washed the mud off and inspected them. I had no expectation of finding one, the kids just really enjoyed looking with me. Then right before we left I found a rock with odd strations on in. Rinsed it off, looked at it again. It has two fossil imprints on leaves on it! So cool! :D :D :D

ETA: after consulting a fossil book, they could be fish fins instead of leaves. Even cooler!

Being a tom boy rocks! I do switch back and forth back to girly (my closet is stocked with 20+ dresses), but I love the cool, the gross, the messy, the fun, and the adventurous. And especially trying new things. I will usually try something at least once! The latest things I've tried are solo skydiving, and backcountry backpacking with my hubby.

I get to post in the Happy Thread finally! Yea!

So, after a year & a half of unemployment and only one interview (yes- one. Hundreds & hundreds of resumes, one nibble in 18 months), I have an interview when I get back from the playa! No details so I don't curse anything, but there's a good chance that if we can come to a salary agreement it's mine. *happy sigh*

Best wishes for you Eric. It's about fucking time your life found a bone. I honestly hope all the best for you.

What a great day full of happy -- reading about Eric's interview and MA's feeling better and -- after a long search because Grai never answered my question on PM (Bad Grai! -- presuming it ever properly sent.... if not, Yay Grai! I worried about you!) how Grai finally figured that he DID have a plane ticket after all.

Today is my OFFICIAL first day of vacation. Fly outta here TONIGHT!!! (well, 3:am tomorrow morning really, but I'm kinda doubting there'll be much sleep beforehand)

Now I just have to figure out how to manage that embarrassing 6mile pile in the basement into two suitcases under 50lbs each and I'll be all good!

Well doh! Sorry about that.

I've lost more posts and PM's than I've sent since moving here. Dunno why. It doesn't really seem that different (except for pages being replaced by new ones rather than opening new ones..... I think that gets me lost more easily!)

Anyhow, I'm glad you're good... in a bad kinda way. I'd expect no less from you!

I am happy that I got to hand out with 30 of my high school friends last night at a mini reunion. Lots of fun.

I'll bet that was fun shroom,,,, I haven't seen most of my classmates for,,,,, shit,,,,, counting now,,,, thirty-seven years!

Anyways, survived the party last night and actually got back with all the stuff that will be going to TTITD,,,, YAY! I was kinda concerned since the joints for the shade structure were put wherever by about a dozen different people at 3AM when we tore down this morning. Not the best time to be taking inventory I tell ya,,,,

A friend of mine gave me a motor for a small dirt tamper to mount under my "spanking bench" and I had time to mount it before the party. Now the whole fucking thing vIbRaTeS YAY!
