Barely over a week after I quit my telecom job I had an interview for a Federal position that I considered a dream opportunity and one hell of a long shot to get. I decided to go for it and yesterday after making it through several rounds of interviews and screening I had a final round panel interview....something I haven't had to go through in over a decade!

I came home worried that the job I wanted was out of reach.

This morning I got the call....and I wasn't prepared for what I was told.

I GOT IT!!!!!

I've already posted a thank you for everyone's advice...well thank you again. Making the jump has paid off in spades.

My last crash happened when my stallion got konked between the ears with a pinecone falling off a tree - he thought the sky was falling and he was going to learn to levitate - apparently without me as the girth broke when he jumped straight up. I ended up on the ground with him looking down at me (still in the saddle, holding the reins) with a HUH? look on his face. We probably both had that same look.

Oh, it was fucking hilarious after the vicodin kicked in (big elbow scar and dislocated shoulder). I had to gut it out on the mile walk back to the barn - I was lucky the beastie was sheepish at that point and tiptoeing to keep me from beating him to death. If he had shown the least fucking inclination to fuck with me, he would have spent eternity in an alpo can.

Opiates and my system get along famously. Over the years, I've had major painkillers for a number of serious post-surgical conditions, from Demerol to Percodan to Laritol (?) and more. I used to have migraines from an inflamed neck tendon, took Midrin and T3s for that. I've taken tests in school, university essay exams, the hard stuff, and scored higher than anyone else in class, while flying high as I could on my prescriptions. Funny, I rarely finish my scripts, I get better and quit taking the heavy shit.

The wonder of it is I have never touched street drugs. I'd be a junkie, I'm sure. A dead fucking junkie.

Now laugh at me, I'm allergic to motspoke; I turn blue and wheeze. Fuck, it looks like so much fun.

Good luck P.K.! This has been a really (fucking) awful year for people getting sick. I felt pretty sick last Friday, but it never really developed into anything. When I got back from my brother's place on Sunday, I found out my mom had spent the weekend sick-- so I suppose it wasn't just my imagination on Friday. (I always worry when my mom gets sick, because of her age.) Luckily she seems to be feeling better today.

Imma spend some time with my Mom after I go see him, which will be almost as good as sleep. Especially since she got some excellent fucking news at work today.

I've actually been thinking about picking up a humidifier recently; there was one set up in the hotel room where I crashed during an event I went to a couple months ago. I barked like the entire fucking colony of sea lions at Pier 39 when I woke up the next morning, but getting all that crap OUT of my lungs was a lovely thing.
