Support staff? BAHAHAHAAA!!! There ain't nobody driving this bus. We're just lucky to be on a relatively straight road. Hopefully it will last long enough for me or someone else to get to the front and figure out how to work the controls.stargeezer wrote:As long as it is not used beer, can I have another.
So as far as the bug goes, am I correct in assuming that all of the necessary data is available, but there is no time or interest to fix it. Times sure change. When I was programming, if there was a problem in my code, I did not sleep until I got it fixed. This must be code of someone that is no longer available for whatever reason and the support staff just does not want to dig.
I've been using this board for years and have never heard of this bug. Then again, I pretty much never visit these huge threads. I went through 6 pages and still don't quite understand what you guys are saying.
If someone could explain what's going on in this bug reports thread (or a new thread if you'd like) I'd appreciate it:

I was watching posts appear from one spammer last night. I am not normally into censorship, but during problem times it might help if newcomers were limited on the number of posts they could make. Having a new user post 20 times in less than an hour is a pretty good indicator that there is a problem.

Just a couple quick points before I have a drink.
First, while I have never seen the code supporting this system, I have experience in several languages and would not be afraid to take a look. I may not be able to fix the problems quickly, but would not ignore them either. On the flip-side, I can appreciate current support staff not wanting to provide access to their system to someone they have no experience with, from their perspective that would be very dangerous and some would consider it stupid.
As far as 20 posts per hour, even in the bar I have not seen a new user generate that. After a few days in the bar, I guess this is possible, but not the first night.
Now, since this is the bar, I will pour myself one.

Just as a side note, post number 15 was fine, post number 16 generated the problem. I had previously posted that we should make a new rule that one should not leave the bar with the page counter in the failing mode. Since the bar is very quiet and nobody else to talk to, I guess I will be the first one to break the new rule!!
