Just finished Lion in Winter. An excellent Xmas movie. Suggestions for the next one? I just love Xmas movies that aren't actually Xmas movies. Like die hard and loaded gun.

No, you're not jaded, that would mean that you'd be from North Dakota and buried in 10' of snow and perfectly happy, ya?

Good Morning Dear Bar !

Yes it is raining and windy.

My youngest son was growing psyli mushrooms in his closet a few years ago.
I only found out when he moved out.
And there are mushrooms growing out my window now.
I asked him if they were from his ; but he swears they are not.

Maybe I can get something done at home today.

Enjoy the weather !
It is so rarely anything interesting here in perfect temp-ville.

Knock on wood, our New England winter has not happened yet. A few snow flurries now, aside from that, it still feels like fall.
Good luck with that crazy rain and wind all you west coast people.

Earlier, the rain and wind were ferocious, but now the storm seems to be abating and moving in a southeasterly direction as forecast. Electricity still with us. Rain continues to come down. Hope we're denting the drought. All schools closed here in Marin County and there are reports of some flooding, but I don't know where.

Storms do appeal to our sense of adventure in our often otherwise lives firmly ensconced in our respective comfort zones. As long as folks don't get hurt.

We're doing alright here. The storm stalled in the north bay, so it didn't start raining in the city until the wee hours (and the north bay got pounded, one town's already got more than 7 inches of the wet stuff). SF proper is having all kinds of problems though, BART's had to close a couple stations because of power outages, the Embarcadero's been shut down, nearly 100K in town without power (big chunks north of Market Street), and the 280 (one of two main freeways south out of the city) has been shut down in a couple places because of flash flooding. The Sierras have some really strong winds (over 100mph in a couple places), and they're calling for 3 feet of snow in spots. Reno's getting it pretty good, I saw a post that Killbuck's power was out, but he was surprised it hadn't gone out sooner. My guess is it's because the whole storm system got held up a bit in the north bay (the SF bay area has this unique high pressure bubble going on that probably served as a speed bump).

For us personally, things are good. I stocked up on vodka and vicious chemicals and we've got plenty of other libations, plus we've got all sorts of nibbles and things to make more nibbles. The drain at the street has a few leaves gathered, but is still draining well (and if it stops up, the runoff would go across the street and down the hill, not inside our place). The winds have been pretty strong since last night, but no issues with power lines (we're closer to the bottom of the hill than the top). My gf's work told her to work from home today, which is good because I think her commute would have been a real mess.

Take care to all those who may have to go out in it, and take care to all the people in the midwest and east coast dealing with snow and ice.

Bless you for thinking of us Trilo! You are a star.

Here in Missouri, it's just drab, chilly 40s with a light gray sky. This kind of weather always puts me in a foul mood because of no susnshine.

Getting ready to head home from work. Looking out at rainpocalypse or stormageddon or something like that. But what really amazes me is that oil has fallen another 2% today and is trading at $59.74/barrel, down $1.20. And I thought Barron's Magazine was nuts when they predicted that oil would hit $75/barrel. So why is the local Shell still selling regular at $3.09/gallon?

I almost hate to post this, but locally 87 octane gas is $2.19. The red-dyed ag fuel is 30 cents cheaper.

The scuttlebutt here locally (where 1/3rd of the nations petroleum is refined) is $1.99 over-the-road gas shortly. So much for Peak Oil!

Good luck to all the folks about to get smacked by StormZilla. Stay safe and be well.
