cough, hack, wheeze
Bartender! Anything that'll chase these damned allergies away please!
Well I've finally gotten my bedroom picked up and the brewing equipment is now free to be used. The next step is of course to brew.
Ygmir, sorry to here bout your run in with the bad food. Unfortunately Price Chopper doesn't carry elderberries, they do have pomegranate though so I guess that's what I'll use. My dad told me where there's an elderberry bush, so I'll have to get some netting next summer to fend off the blackbirds and get me some elderberries then.

Ummm, LeChat, I'd like to take this moment to remind you of something...LeChatNoir wrote:Home brewing, eh?!?
A hobby I’ve yet to pick up, but have long wanted to.
That having been said about all I can say is that it's not really the brewing and bottling that takes a lot of time it's all the washing and sanitizing that's a pain in the ass.LeChatNoir wrote:Must… not… take… ON… NEW… HOBBIES!!!

That's why I really like brewing mead. Speaking of which! *goes and gets a glass of some* I can brew the same volume as a batch of beer, get more alcohol out of it, and use bigger bottles.thisisthatwhichis wrote:Yes, soooo true...... Actually, I'm not really all that concerned about alcohol content. I'd much rather have a batch that had a lower alcohol content, but tasted really good, than one that gave a swift kick in the pants, but because of that the taste was diminished.

Ahoy UBDave!
I'm trying to decide whether I want to go to Burning Man next year, or go on the Hot Rod Power Tour in my '55 Chevy. I've been following the Power Tour for years in print and on the web, kinda' like lots of people do with BM.
It looks like fun for a gearhead!

Actually the Land Yacht and the '55 Bel Air are very similar in that they were both tons of work and both sit unused almost all the time for lack of a place to use them. The Bel Air is technically just a car but the hell if I'd leave it in a parking lot anywhere, which really limits what I can do with it. The Land Yacht is awesome on the playa but a crackpot freakshow elsewhere.
The '55 has barely seen daylight in decades. Maybe it's time to give it somewhere to go. And it would force me to spend time and money fixing and updating things on it to make it better and more reliable rather than throwing money and effort at a worthless vehicle (OK maybe to the right person the Land Yacht has some value, but nowhere near like a beautiful '55 Bel Air hardtop!) The Chevy looks awesome and goes like hell, but doesn't stop well and steers pretty shitty and overheats in traffic and won't start when hot. I could fix all of those things but never do because I almost never drive it and much of my time and money go into BM stuff instead.
I try never to even think about how much $ I've gone through for BM but I know it's approaching $20k, almost all of which is unrecoverable. The Chevy is worth at least twice what I have into it.
Of course, evaluating Burning Man on a practical cost/benefit basis is ALWAYS a bad idea!

LOL. Hey now! I didn't say there wasn't any alcohol. It's just that when I get smashed I prefer (that's prefer mind you not insist) that what I imbibe at least tastes better than paint thinner.Captain Goddammit wrote:What the hell kind of drunk are you? Now, if it was me I sure wouldn't get rid of the Land Yacht. Not because of time and money invested, but because saying you're captain of the 55' Bel Air isn't nearly as cool as captain of the Land Yacht.
There, how's that for fucked up priorities

HAPPY FIRST SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON DAY!!!
At least it is here anyways. When I went to the barn this morning and seen it's that heavy wet snow I figured it'd be gone by afternoon. But, it seems that it's not going to be leaving today.
I do believe this calls for something warm. Hmmm, I'll have a hot chocolate and.......???? Argh, so many choices! Quick! Somebody put somethin in this!

Colored balls worked really well. Getting about 400yds a shot with the
SKS.
Think we need to have a pre-event tournement.
With anything but clubs.
also,
if we can't use clubs, what do I do with all these baby harp seals?...........
