Re: The Bar, Volume #4
6;15 AM and wide awake. Just need to load some clothes and my food, the bikes on the back and I'm ready to roll. Hope to see Triken and Knownmad tonight for a drink in Reno. Then off to BRC in the morning. 0 precipitation forecast from Friday through the Temple Burn and after. Yay for that!

Safe journey, Marty. Give them all a hug from me.
I was awake at four, but stayed down so I wouldn't be worn out by noon. We roll tomorrow.

Been up since 4:30 this morning... not because I had to be, but just because.
Taxi doesn't get here until 11. I'm trying not to sit by the door on my suitcases.
Can't wait to see you all!!!!!

Enjoying my luxurious digs. The shuttle service from the airport was stellar. Dinner was fresh and fabulous, my cocktail is cold. The owner couldn't be more gracious, and the concierge is a sassy lil' blonde, eager to please. Overall, 8 stars on Yelp.
Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Left yesterday and got 2 miles when my trailer tires started smoking really bad. Went to Les Scwab and they are trying to fix a wheel well that came loose and is rubbing the tire Was grounded last night and my campmate went on to the cabin by herself. Hoping today to be able to take off and pray that the trailer is ok to drive the long trip. Fingers crossed. Needless to say, there were many cuss words used and a few shot of fireball was consumed last night.
Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Kentucky Fried Camp's truck was STOLEN in Berkeley last night, with most of their playa gear already packed on it. I know it's a long shot, but please keep an eye out and let me know if anyone spots this:
Description of the truck:
17' U-Haul box truck with a vehicle transport trailer
Design on side is Sandhill cranes of Mississipi
Trailer has Georgia plates

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Did the transport trailer have an MV or artcar on it?
Highly unlikely that who ever stole it will come through Reno. It's probably still in the bay area.

Ouch, sorry to hear it. But also serves as a warning to others loading up in big cities… do not leave loaded trucks unattended. If you pack up in the wee hours, leave in the wee hours. Loading up a truck and then leaving it (whether it's overnight or just for a few hours) is a bad idea. Always.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Dusty hugs and waves from the playa. Things were gnarly as fuck earlier in the week (made the worse of 2012 seem like the walk in the park it was), but not too terrible since. A little dusty at times, but if you have serious and solid shade, you're good to go. Do be careful to make sure you don't have an obstructed plate or other reason for a traffic stop, and if stopped be the polite and courteous person we know you are in person. If for any reason you experience anything less than professional behavior from law enforcement (or you experience awesome behavior), go to a ranger station and fill out the law enforcement feedback form asap (don't wait until after the event).

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
I'm gonna try to get photos at the Meet & Greet and post them here - early in the morning and late at night I'm able to get wifi here in Black Rock City.
Last night Motskyroonmatck and Martianski were on the Land Yacht with Clocks&Mirrors.
The weather has been pretty damn good, not too hot and relatively warm nights - I actually had my A/C on all night last night.
There's dust blowin' but no real nasty heavy windstorms. The playa is in pretty good shape, generally firm and flat (few dunes and lumps).
In town biking is easy and the boat coasts in "Drive" fast enough that I have to drag the brakes, but out in "deep playa" past the Temple it's soft enough that I have to throttle it and not a lot of people are riding bikes out there.
Well, gotta go hit the port potties!
Will update more later!
Captain Goddammit over and out!!!

Hmmm, this place needs some cocktails and cheerfulness...
btw, if anyone hasn't experienced a disability, a physical one like Fishy or myself, they'll NEVER UNDERSTAND, ever! So *uck off! I don't know the full story nor do I need to, but I KNOW physical disabilities are TOUGH, no denying it, period. Some invisible disabilities make it tougher and some can be mental ones, eh hem, so I wish you'd all quit fighting and just get along, sheesh!
