I was building a drum out of an old barrel, drilling the sides for pegs.

A strange odor assailed my nose. Surely it was Chateauneuf-du-Pape!

A quick check the bottom of the barrel and yes, it was good French oak!

I would be pleased to share this bottle with you, but it seems to have g-gotten empty. It's no more.

New doctor was great; says my weight goals are utterly reasonable for someone of my frame. I have a follow-up in a couple of weeks with a health educator to discuss nutrition/exercise/weight management/etc. I also need to schedule an OB/GYN appointment for a pelvic and - wait for it! - my first mammoslam.

I was planning to wait till 40, but if she wants it now, she gets it now.

She was also fabulous when I brought up the whole queer/poly angle - "I'm your doctor, not your priest."

(For those of you who have never discussed this sort of stuff with a medical professional, and need to, I highly recommend Health Care Without Shame: A Handbook for the Sexually Diverse and Their Caregivers by Charles Moser, Ph.D., M.D. Dr. Moser has actually made the full text of the book available online, but I can't find the link just now.)
