Oh, he's not living under my roof. His roommates get to hound him for rent money. I made him take a year off before college in hopes that he'd appreciate the free ride. Oh, well.

They picked him up on a bench warrant for an old speeding ticket and at least he didn't get busted by the police for the dope.

I believe that we,as the Burner Community, want and need to air out ideas. The purpose of discourse and debate is to air all viewpoints and arrive at a true picture. Vindication comes from having one's ideas accepted as truth. If a person responds, in kind, to verbal attacks, it is often nothing but a manipulation by the original attacker.
I, for one, prefer not to let myself be manipulated. I try to avoid having a chain to yank.

I realize that you're just dishing out what you have received. You may have vehemently gotten your point across but, you have alienated your audience and terminated that portion of the forum. A more dispassionate approach would convey the same information but, wouldn't alienate the other participants.
Debate is generally accepted as a search for the truth of the matter. Since one can never convince every person of a "fact", I believe that it is best to present the evidence and let cognizant persons arrive at the truth.
Non-cognizant persons aren't worth the waste of time,,,,, for both browbeating or denigration.
I believe in presenting the "truth" and then letting it stand or fall on it's own merits.
If you insist on attacking people as payback, many will just ignore you. That makes it impossible to present your case. If presenting a "truth" is your reason for posting, you will have better results in the long run by being less belligerent.
There is a quote that I can't attribute that comes to mind; "ritual courtesy is the lubricant that keeps the gears of civilization from grinding them selves to dust"
