A friend used a tesla coil to capture burglars inside a faraday cage once.
It worked too.

I designed an emf pulse device once.
The whim was that it would be useful for radar stops, but it was quickly concluded that any device producing a large percussion might lead to misunderstandings.

The design was on the money though.
