Not so much an old friend but a colleague of mine. I elected not to apply for an opening when I knew he had his heart set on it. He got the position. Now I suggested and essentially persuaded mgmt to create a new position that is tailor made for my talents. I just found out he applied for it as well (along with 3 other coworkers). I'm not sure being twice their age is a plus or a minus. I guess it's wrong of me to expect reciprocation when $'s and advancement are in play.....but still. The kicker is he told me he applied to every police and fire dept within driving distance and would drop this place in a NY minute if accepted, I've made it clear I intend to retire from here. I guess I'm getting soft in my old age, the footprints on my back don't feel very nice, but it's a more disappointed than hurt thing.

tpbm is as stress free as they've ever been in their entire life right now.
