HI Lucky!
well thanks, feeling better, but seemingly not "up to snuff" yet. fatigue seems to be the lingering effect I'm having. So, pretty good, really. Thanks for asking.
Are you going to TTITD this year?

Yes, I’m going this year. Dye is going and we will be next to piney in the 404 Village Not Found. I’m glad you’re on the mend. This latest variant seems to keep people down/fatigued longer this go round.

Lucky: glad you're getting to go. I hope you all have a grand time!
I won't be making those high speed dust trails outside the trash fence, but will be in spirit.
I'll be interested to hear how it is. So many variables, not the least of which, all the pent up engergy from folks missing the last couple of years.
I'm heading for the Hof today, first time in the last 6 weeks...ugh, been a tough summer...

:coffee: yay! Hof! I’ve got ice in the freezer, a can of beans, and a loaf of bread in the oven. Im thinking of checking out the meteor shower on playa tonight. Drive late this afternoon, and leave early tomorrow, in order perhaps to skip a day-one heat headache.

HI Savannah.
thanks for caring and asking! I'm pretty much over the crud, still get fatigued easier than before, but that might also be partly the summer heat...
Went up to the Hof Sunday, for the day......I've not spent much time there this summer, what with medical issues and such. So nice up there, though. and the thermal mass of the structure (50 ish tons of concrete, granite and steel) works so good to moderate temp swings inside, it stays cool during the day, and is just warming as evening hits. I hope you can come visit sometime!

Looks sorta deserted in here. I guess it's prep time and no ones drinking? huh?
I hope the event goes off smoothly and the weather is what is best.. Best being subjective, some loving the random and paralysis that ensues, some love white outs, some love freezing temps, and some love mid 70's with a gentle breeze... all are possible.
I'll be watching from "camp envy"...

Morning, ygmir. “show me the way to the next whiskey bar.” I helped some Texans unload their storage and pack a truck and repack their storage yesterday. One stayed in her car the whole time. Cheapened the idea of “helping” for me. Seemed we touched everything twice and it was all still overfull, the storage unit, and the truck. Graidawg drove by me at the storage, within 6 ft, he didn’t look or slow, it made me so sad. Burning man becoming like a frustrating repeated dream where things don’t go right. What to make of a diminished thing?

I’m thinking about the Renegade burn. It realistically could be even worse than the main shiny rv going’s on. Further from help and maybe more unprepared idiots drying up in the desert. Camping in cleaner better weather doesn’t sound that bad some days.

ygmir, Good milestone. I found phil‘s webpage the other day, The Civilized Explorer. He had a cool annual report of his burn too, and many good stories. Man, the links! From an informative page to endless informative pages. Shelter, many many ideas and theories. Now we read: lag screws, impact driver, kodiak, shift pod, rv. Hours I spent reading about Burning Man that I now spend streaming video… hmmm. I am officially a grumpy fart now. I thought I was still young when I started. I heard the crickets when Strata asked about a meet and greet. If I was going I’d hope for one again. It’s interesting to note changes. I don’t expect it won’t change even more.

Good info doesn’t lose value though. I laughed today when I read somebody’s burn instructions on how to wash hands or dishes in a basin, of pouring water from a pitcher “to simulate a running tap.”

I’m thinking of early afternoon chilled coffee, hey bar friends. Baby birds on the highway, at the airport. Someone is selling “builder wristbands” as guaranteed playa access. The suckers who read nothing and prepared nothing are getting fleeced in Reno. I’ve never been as aware to this, though I guess it’s as old as the hills.

Live-streaming web cam from main site. Someone on YouTube is selling the free feed for $60. Looks like a clear day today, looking forward to seeing the lights tonight. Camp envy is clean.

No. I feel bad for people who are truly disadvantaged to the degree they cannot be prepared, or for the hard lessons that could have been avoided. I am angry that there is an intentional industry to take advantage of them. I’m saddened that the expectation of just showing up and being taken care of exists.

Well, today is my 70th birthday.

This occasion was marked by a dozen jumbo eggs that had 11 double yokers!!!

Hopefully this portends well for the coming year, as the yoke is my favorite part of the egg.
