Re: Donald Trump is my hero
Why is it that asking your race on the census form isn't racist (they do in fact ask that) but whether or not you're a citizen of the United States is racist. Seems to me it should be the other way around.

Doc, did you watch the short video that SSE posted above? Clear, concise and right to the point.

Doc asked simple question, not to be directed to some dork ball video SSE probably posted. I don't blame him if he didn't "watch the vid".....
I wonder the same thing? Why, is asking citizenship, so bad? Certainly no more intrusive than many other questions on the census form.

I'd think this very possible. Re: Donald Trump is my hero
Hi Doc, to answer your question on why citizenship should not be a census question.
First, the census to count all the people is in the constitution.*
Second, people are required by law to participate in the census and answer truthfully
Third, therefore individuals who are in the country illegally will evade the census, which violates the first point.
Finally, there are no other questions on the census, and by implication compulsory to answer questions, that ask about any illegal behavior.
There is no question about domestic violence offenders, illegal pot growers, drug dealers, etc. Most people would think asking questions like that would be ridiculous.
It is estimated there are about 13 million illegal residents. There are many more times that number who commit or have committed illegal behavior and gotten away with it. But we don't ask about it on the census.
American business runs on illegal immigration. From congressmen who have illegal farm hands to CEOs with illegal nannies, landscapers, building contractors, to everybody who eats meat from slaughter houses and meat packers, who eat prepared fruit, who eat fresh produce, who dine out at restaurants, the list goes on.
We need to fix our agricultural and other worker visa programs and fix E-Verify, then figure out the way forward. It would also be a good idea to help bring Guatemala and Honduras, which we have royally messed up, back to normal life by creating jobs, and make peace with Mexico who our government has been scapegoating for the sole reason that Trump was too stupid to stay on track in his speeches - https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartande ... 0a30844156

That's true. Can you believe there are people who are my friends who actually thought that Hillary Clinton would have made a better president than Donald Trump? Happily we'll never know.
Re: Donald Trump is my hero
There is a truism in that Doc. No matter who we elect to any given office there is always someone worse, biding their time, hoping to steer things in their direction.

Oh Doc! Since Trump's character / behavior is completely indefensible you choose to change the topic to Hillary?
As I watch Trump divide our people against each other like a cancer my thought is "sadly we'll never know."

Yep, he’s totally embraced “whataboutism” embarrassing actually, because it’s like that’s all they got oh and “FAKE NEWS”. To defend this behavior of anyone let alone the president of the United States is simply disgusting to decent minded people (regardless of party) but it’s what his base does, so no one here is surprised anymore.

It all depends on what matters to the individual. When anyone attempts to impose their own values/beliefs on someone else, it seldom works out.

You mean like the Constitution, or the 10 principles, or human dignity? Or is this just another excuse for excusing Trumps racist and destructive behavior from some other old coot?

If you take 10 people, from different parts of the country, and ask them to write down what they think are the most important issues and the priority they should be dealt with, you would likely end up with 10 very different lists.Lonesomebri wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 11:49 amYou mean like the Constitution, or the 10 principles, or human dignity? So yeah baby as long as I got mine. Is that it?
Is that all it takes for someone to ignore human dignity, decency, ethics, morals?

If that was aimed at me, then I really do not know how to answer either question as I cannot fathom how that came about from what I said.lucky420 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 2:12 pmSo yeah baby as long as I got mine. Is that it?

Hopefully, I am just being slightly paranoid and that comment was not aimed at me at all.

No it wasn’t ^^^
Some might think it’s aimed at a specific person and it very may well fit. The prevalent attitude of “Ive got mine, so fuck the rest” is that of a boot licking trump supporter.

Hate to tell you this (you should already know), but that attitude is prevalent throughout our society and applied to many, many other aspects of life in the U.S. There are many products, sold in the U.S., which got here through the abuse of human rights. It has been well documented, yet the sales never suffer for it.lucky420 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 3:14 pmNo it wasn’t ^^^

Has nothing to do with who is politically supported. It is just a pervasive attitude.
