Hello folks!

Post by maryanimal » Sun Jul 17, 2022 11:26 am

Hello everyone. It's nice to be back in here and seeing some familiar faces. I know you all are getting ready to go to burning Man this year. I'm planning to go next year.
So, in Facebook I made a new Facebook page. And all my glorious friends thought someone was trying to hack my account and they reported my account as false. I bless each and every one of you who did report my new page because it tells me how much you really care. I've been trying to get in contact with some people that were in my friends list but they had already blocked me by then. I just want to let everybody know that my new Facebook page is real. I had to make a new one. So if any of you were on my friends list feel free to send me a friend request. I'd love to have you back. Love you lots. :D
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Hi, Mary!

I have also had to discard my Fb account and start a brand-new one.
And recently, the crooks hacked into a dear friend's regular e-mail account. Luckily, I recognized that the message I received "over her signature" was not consistent with her personality, so I telephoned her.

We, as a society, are simply failing to control the criminals of the world. Just because some new electronic cleverness can be invented, does not mean that it should necessarily be allowed out of the lab.
Alright, that was my "Sunday sermon", one day late.

Like you, I plan to return to the Playa next year.

HI MA!!
so nice to see you surface again!
Of all the years to miss, I think this is the smartest one.
On so many levels, seems it'll be "high anxiety"....

Hi Ygmir! Yep I am surfacing again. This time I want to get to know everybody again that I haven't seen in a while. I actually could have gone to burning Man this year, but I'm going to Sweden for my nephew's wedding in the next few months. I wish I could afford both, but my nephew is very important to me. So how have you been? Staying out of trouble?

I've been well. Thank you for asking. And I'm trying really hard to stay out of trouble! :D
It's going to be interesting being in a Scandinavian country. I hear Sweden beautiful.

Nice sermon Father Elliot.

Personally I think the real criminals work at FB and are in no small part responsible for the deterioration of society over the last several years. I no longer use any social media unless ePlaya counts.

FB is pure evil

Thanks, but that might be pushing it for a card-carrying non-theist. :P

I re-joined Fb last year for the same reason I bought a computer 20 years ago -- a necessary evil. Though, 20 years ago, I did not anticipate how evil this technology would become in the hands of evil humans.
(Now that I have studied a bit of history, anthropology, psychology, and philosophy in more recent years, I know better!)

And, having moved out in the boondocks in 2002 (for the cheap real estate), I rely on the interweb for countless purchases, as well as obscure information.

But one thing I have never had, and do not want, is a smart-phone. I'm writing this on a 40-pound desktop computer with 17" screen, hardwired mouse and ergonomic keyboard, scanner and printer too. :D

I keep a $20 "throw-away" flip-phone in my car, always shut off, in case of highway emergency, and charge it every two months. (Used it twice since 2014.)

No television either for the last 20 years, not counting You-Tube on the desktop. (They even have Tex Avery cartoons!)

I will try to stop blabbering now.
