Year-Round Disaster Preparedness Guides for Burners?!

Post by xtine2 » Sat Sep 17, 2005 11:12 am

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina and increasing Global Warming in general, Burners may want to start thinking about disaster preparedness at home too!

BM has a lot of knowledge to share with others -- such as ...how to survive in a harsh climate, how to quickly build temporary shelters, basics of water conservation, the principles of reduce/reuse/recycle, sources of renewable energy (solar, etc), living without running water and electricity, life without motorized vehicles, respect for the earth, and gift giving, just to name a few....

Let's not forget that San Francisco, the birthplace to Burning Man, is in the heart of earthquake country, and we're still waiting for the big one!

Are You Prepared?

Why did you create two topics for this, one day right after the other?

Katrina Help vs. Diaster relief.

Hey -

If you really think it's redundant, delete one.

1) One was about helping others..Katrina relief

2) The other was about helping ourselves-Disaster Preparedness

One will be deleted, the other moved to a place more appropriate. I fully appreciate your cause and do not wish to appear callous, but please see the problems this causes in where you post - http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=10733

Move topic to appropriate place.

That's fine.
After all, you are the moderator.

I'd rather the message be in the right place, anyway.
Sometimes I just don't know where the right place is.

The most important thing to me is to get some input from other Burners and to start thinking in a proactive way on how to protect ourselves and to spread all of the excellent knowledge we've gained over the years at BM.
.

Thanks in advance for your help!
