I just got a doozy of a 1st degree burn right in my left palm (had finished welding a bunch of stuff, was wheeling it to the othe side of the yard when I had to pick it up to clear an obstruction, so of course I grabbed the piece I just welded. And picked up a ~50 lb bike before the pain hit.
No more masturbation for me for a while!

burn
Is it not fun that you hear and see the flesh get cooked before the pain hits?
Done that twice but with copper plumbing. Getting a 10 foot section of 1 inch copper pipe hot enough to silver solder equals a bad burn on the other end when you forget. Welcome to the club.

Hah! Last night I was at my buddies black smith shop. I've only tried smithing a few times, but last night I managed to briefly pickup a piece of rebar that was waaay too hot to hold. Today I have blisters in neat little rebar patterned lines on the palm of my hand. Typing is a little harder now

Heh Heh... I regularly burn the hair off my arms from the flames of the forge. Just a part of the job, I reckon. And as far as burns go, when the metal's red hot, it'll just vaporize the skin it touches, leaving a nice cauterized wound to heal cleanly.regionalchaos wrote:Hah! But when it's at a black heat... skin sticks like a steak in a hot skillet.
I tell everyone who enters my shop, "Don't touch anything without asking if its hot... Just assume everything you see is at a black heat" because there's a good chance that it is.
And as an added bonus to my trade, I get to compare scars with my glassblower bud.
