I talked to someone in Montreal today.
When they answered in french, I instantly forgot every word I know.

An orgy of Blackbirds, a murder of Crows and a colony of Grackles.

If it weren't for the orgy, it sounds like its for the birds...

Came home last night to find three ducks on my back deck. Two drakes doing one hen. A tussling ball of duck feathers and down.

I wasted most of a day playing Civilization III... I took India out of play, so I at least don't have Ghandi constantly backstabbing me in all sorts of ways. The program finally caused some sort of fault with Windows and got shut down, so I actually got around to doing some useful stuff.

HSBC seems to finally be willing to compromise on the money I owe them. Apparently, when they asked my dad when they could talk to me, he told them "5 to 10 years"..., so they might think I am in prison! Anyway, I need to contact them, I guess. Getting those bills out of the way would be nice, and, if they are legitimately offering a compromise, maybe even possible with my unemployment back pay. (The DMV didn't bother to send their attorney, so the judgment went my way, thankfully!)

I think I will go into Madison Tuesday. I need to contact the clinic about the fact that Savoy decided I earn too much to be on their free medicine program. It seems they only looked at what I earned last year, and not at the fact that I lost the job and am currently only working temp jobs. I am getting the suspicion that Savoy's program is for P.R. only.... I also have a few other things to get done in the Mad City.

Darn. It is nearly bed time, and I have managed to get my room uncomfortably warm thanks to running the computer all day. :?

I managed to go most of this month before hearing the news about 'fishy! Darned tragic. I'm going to feel bummed out about that for awhile. If I can figure out a way to send positive vibes/good karma/or whatever I'll try to do so!

Maybe eventually-- I put off getting Civ. III for a long time. I finally gave in when I had a coupon for $10 off at Best Buy and found the game there for $20. Spoor might be too advanced for my computer, though, so I might get off lucky!

Aw, phooey! I should be getting to bed soon! :?

Have you ever noticed that the people promoting "White Power" are the last people in the world any sane white person would want representing their race? They always seem to be uneducated, bass ackwards motherfuckers.

Taking African American history this term has given me a healthy dose of white guilt. We just got up to the history of the KKK, and I'm almost embarrassed to even show my face (as one of the only white students) in the class without apologizing. "I swear I don't subscribe to that point of view!"*sigh*

I was seriously into Civ III a couple of years ago. I wasted almost 3 whole months on that game. Then I got Civ iV and it wouldn't work on my computer. But when I got a new computer it, it kinda sucked because I didn't really like Civ IV but after playing it, I didn't really like Civ III anymore.

I put my laundry in the washing machine early in the afternoon, planing on switching it to the dryer just before supper... then forgot about it until a little after nine at night... Now I have to wait for the dryer to stop before going to bed! Arrgh!

I've managed to stay away from Civ III since Monday. It is one of those games I get into playing for a while, then get really mad at and not play for a while. Currently I am mad at it because somehow my country is now the global backwater. It would seem that the other, computer controlled countries, are more willing to swap technology with each other than with the human controlled nation. (Lets hope no IAs get into playing Civilization! )

The people who seem to spend most of their time boasting about their famous ancestors seem to have very little to boast about in their own lives.

A lot of the current problems in politics might stem from all the political science people involved in politics. :? (Someone pointed this out to me, and I have been wondering if it is true ever since.)

I was kind of on the fence at first, but after carefully thinking it over I've decided I like this year's theme - 'Green Glow Sticks' - after all.

Maybe playing the Incas in Civ. III isn't the way to go, but Incas are so darned cool!

According to my horoscope in the local paper, I am supposed to spend time today online in an adult chatroom?! And my dad's horoscope says he is supposed to buy an exotic afghan!! :? I want to know what drugs that astrologer is on and where I can get some!

Bridge to Terabitia turned out to be a very, very good movie! Children's movies, like this one, can be even better than "adult" movies. Bridge to Terabithia deals with some very grown up topics, and the lack of answers for some of life's more painful happenings. It is very much a movie about growing up, which is something I doubt anyone ever finishes. The leads were good and very good-- maybe even better than that. Actually, I will say that they both were excellent. Apparently, the book is on the list of kids books people try to get banned (one of the reasons is that it is accused of promoting "secular humanism"-- and it was written by a minister's wife, for cryin' out loud!). I really want to read the book! (I think my mom has it, so maybe I can borrow it.)

Bridge to Terabithia has a lot of depth, numerous layers... but I don't want to write any spoilers at this time. Go see the movie!

Ah yes, twas the night afore X-Mas, and the snow has all melted revealing the brown grass and mud of the season. The goths are out caroling with creepy Christmas carols and the children are being lulled to sleep by the heavy breathing and rhythmic creaking of bedsprings from mom and dad's room. Meanwhile, the dog is claiming the Christmas tree as his, while the cat is somewhere near its top, knocking antique glass ornaments to the floor, and watching them shatter amongst the brightly wrapped gifts-- gifts only slightly water damaged from the tree being watered after one too many egg nogs. By the fireplace, grandpa has Santa held at shotgun point until the police can arrive, and on the roof Santa's sleigh is being ticketed by an over-zealous parking enforcement agent. Forgotten, the turkey is blackening in the oven...

Let us prey....

But. That wouldn't explain it either.
