Our friend George has wanted to go to BM for years and has been making it real this year. He has MS and knows it's his last chance to do something outrageous. He's been planning to drive himself out and camp with us at Hotwheelz Camp at Arctic and Evolution (Center Camp), but suddenly may not be able to because his family has become very worried and doesn't want to let him go by himself.
If we could find someone who would be willing to ride out with him (from Oakland) AND/OR accompany him for much of the burn, the family would let him go. It would not be full time, and he will have a power scooter on the playa, but we need someone to commit to helping us make sure George is ok throughout the time he's there. He probably won't stay the whole burn.
We know what a long shot this is, but it's George's only chance and we promised to try. We are committed to running Hotwheelz camp, gifting mobility to disabled and injured burners, so our plate is too full to focus on George.
So anyone out there who might just possibly be able to help out. PLEASE respond to this or [email protected]. We'll give you more info and some of the best karma in the universe.

I can hang out with George one of the days during the week, say Monday or Tuesday. I am camping at 4&C in TikiFuckos/Gigsville. I am currently having mobility problems and will likely spend alot of my time hanging out with the other street urchins. I didn't get the necessary shit together for a disabled permit since I have been recently disabled but I do have a wheelchair being loaned to me from Monday on. (Thanx Anti-M!) I plan on going to see Crude Awakening if nothing else so he is more than welcome to join the group of people in our gang for the evening. It will be THE BEST show on the playa! Hope you find a partner for G and his roadtrip home!

We've heard a lot about you from mutual acquaintances. Thanks for your concern. Actually, I think it's more about George's well-being because he took a couple of falls recently, but we're trying not to get in the middle of family politics. We just want to make the trip possible with the family's blessing.

I can drive out with George, but if he has to come back early we may need someone who's going back this way early to help with that.
I just tried to email a friend of mine with ms who was out in 2005, but the email isn't working and she hasn't made it back to the burn.
She was a big hit on the playa and did pretty well though she got tired easily.
I just hope she is okay.
I know in this group, we can pull together enough people to give George a real taste of the playa.
Even if he can come back next year, it's clear he won't be in the same shape.
Let's show him the real heart of burning man.

We talked with George. He decided not to go for many reasons, not the least of which being that he was very far from prepared and realized it would take more than a few days of scrambling. Mostly, he felt it was too much stress on his system, physically and emotionally, and we believe it was a wise, but sad decision.
We want to take him to Decompression in the city. He sends regards to everyone and so do we.
