Well I don't suppose he could get it ti Burning Man. Maybe a local or regional burn huh? I suppose if he was a burner we would have heard about this before.

holy crap.

Use Google maps & go to:

38°01'48" N, 115°26'10" W
(just cut & paste the above into the "Fly to" box)

"City" is much bigger than it was in the image on the page first quoted (which provided me with the coordinates above)

Damn. I love crazy artists.

38°01'48" N, 115°26'10" W Put that into Google Maps and check it out! It's HUGE!!! Very cool!
A plan is what you vary from.

I can see the photo section on google earth that is on the web site that hasn't been updated 1999. The rest looks like the beginning of a golf course! Gotta find a way to fund the art I guess?

It's too bad it won't be open to the public until at least 2010 based on current funding. Perhaps if he opened it up a couple of times per year his revenue stream would increase and he could expand it even more.

It's still pretty damn cool, and having the Google Earth coordinates was nice.

Well, I had heard Spiral Jetty is under some danger from oil drilling. That got me started.
The idea was it would be "ruined" by nature, NOT by man...

You can check out spiral jetty at:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&g ... &z=18&om=0

and it's all over the blogosphere. For ex:

My understanding is that he's not too keen on people just showing up and he won't let you in. In fact, I've heard first hand that he gets real pissy just trying to contact him.

I think the funniest part about this artist is him saying, "If they build that railroad then I will bury this piece of art" and the rest of the world says, "So?".
