Nalgene bottles cause cancer, hippies everywhere panic!

ok well...maybe not so much...so far no one has died yet...but they do in fact contain small amounts of BPA, a chemical which could potentially have harmful effects on humans...possibly maybe...and its more likely to leach into your beverage if you swig hot tea or wine from it (as i often do) since heat and alcohol increase the, er, leach-ability?

so are you dumping your collection of nalgene's? Are you jumping on the mass hysteria bandwagon like everyone else?

funny thing is...if you tell people that BPA will kill you...it probably will...it'll sink into your subconscious and rot away your insides...but if this news story never came out...well what you dont know cant hurt you, right?

me, I think I will go smoke a cigarette, drink some mulled wine from my bright green bottle, & maybe inhale some asbestos...you only live once! at least, as far as i can remember anyways...the buddhists might have a different say on the matter...

apparently there is 62,000,000 plastic drinking bottles in America used daily and thrown away. Refill them once and we cna all reduce this number substantially - even better get a refillable bottle. Probably not a Nalgene bottle now that they are killing us slowly.

I drive over a large bridge twice a day, and always think when I see someone broken down in the middle "Fuck that would suck"

every day I worried about breaking down in the middle and being one of those asshats.

then - my electrical system goes dead - exact middle fo the bridge, i come right to a halt. Traffics backing, people are honking, babies were crying.

So along comes State Trooper Man and shoves me off the bridge.
Glad that was over.

So dont worry about cervical cancer AntiM- be practive and get your guts inspected often. What more can you do? get the HPV vaccine if you dont have it already? thats about it i think. I dont have a cervix so am not up on the latest maintenance procedures for said organ.

Meh, I've had breast cancer, and I've had colon cancer, trust me, if there's a check out there, I get it. Pap smear every three years for older women who have low risk sexual activity. I am far too old for the HPV vaccine to be effective, that only works for young'uns, preferably virgins. Thanks for the advice, but I'm light years ahead on it.

I do not believe cancer is a self-fulfilling prophecy, I think it is more like a crap shoot. I have three older brothers, one died of colon cancer, one has multiple myeloma, and the third has colon polyps removed annually. Throw in my two cancers in 2004, and we have a cancer family. We think it was living on the Naval Weapons Station as children in the early 60s which did us in.

At first I skimmed past this thread but then this morning I came across the MSNBC story saying Nalgene was pulling the bottles. I pulled my bottles too...right out of the cabinet and into the trash. (I was using mine for heated stuff but not anymore...I'll go back to the classic steel thermos for awhile until the industry comes out with suitable alternatives....)

I've never really liked the Nalgene bottles anyway...I prefer the tall aluminum bottles like the ones SIGG makes...

I like almost any anodized aluminum thing I can get my hands on, especially if it's colored blue or purple. Hell I even bought a 6 pack of Budweiser once just because it came in aluminum tall bottles. I can't explain it, I won't try to, aluminum tall bottles always catch my eye like few other things do.
