Why does BMORG condone censorship of gay-themed art?
I'm still trying to figure out why Larry and BMORG backed down so readily when the cops censored the gay-themed "Jiffy Lube" art piece at Burning Man a couple of years ago. In fact, not only did they condone the censorship, but they discouraged attendees from protesting this act of violation of their 1st Amendment liberties. So what was the rationale? I've heard that Burning Man is all about "radical self expression" unless that self expression interferes with someone else's experience. So was BMORG worried that Jiffy Lube was interfering with some homophobic cop's experience of the event? Or is it just that Larry and his associates have no principles, and would therefore never place at risk the cash-cow that the event has become for them, by challenging the authorities--even if those authorities are clearly in the wrong?
