No, I really want to know? Cause I just leave the board every time I see threads with his tag.

It won't matter if you do not let his actions control your experience.madmatt wrote:No, I really want to know? Cause I just leave the board every time I see threads with his tag.

ditto that.abeerinthemorning wrote: It won't matter if you do not let his actions control your experience.
I see "that" name on a thread, I just ignore it.
Though the troll is doing a good job at clogging the hell out of the board and killing any meaningful conversation- which is probably the plan to begin with.

I logged on yesterday and there were like 20 threads with that name on it. I'm not one who thinks every discussion must be meaningful to me, but the whole troll/malicious/negativity posting thing seems to have been the only topic for like 2 months now.III wrote:>clogging the hell out of the board and killing any meaningful conversation
that wasn't the status quo before this all started?
What's the big attraction to doing stuff like that? I mean, if you want to fuck up people's discussion and piss them off, why not go paTROLLING on Bush supporter discussion boards or Christian Coalition boards?

agreed (which was kind of my point, actually).
the only comment i can make at this point is that the problem is not just with one (or two or three) people. i think that chasing after the individuals will get you into a never ending game of whack a mole.
fortunately, the etf is aware of what the problems are, and are looking at a number of ways of addressing the issue. unfortunatly, the changes will probably slow in coming...

Beer, breakfast of champions...
ditto. The main thing is not to post in those threads and let them fall to the bottom of the bbs pond.

Shizzle like that has kept me from posting much on this board. I'm all for free speech and all, but the admis. of the board need to block the isp from that user to ensure quality of of the message board.
And who keeps posting to those topics anyways? They just keep bumping the thread up.

Well, even though people hate 'trolls', there's no mistaking the debate and activity they stir up.
I've learned a lot about BM from reading the troll threads.
Anyway, what you resist persists. Most persistent trolls seem to somehow thrive on the attention they get.
I've seen entire Usenet newsgroups become paralyzed by one persistent and antagonistic troll.
If I was an admin here, I'd set up a troll poll. When any user gets more than 10% of the users voting them a troll, I'd move their new threads automatically to a rants and raves thread when posted.
They still get freedom of speech, the rest get some relief from incessant yammering on their obsessive themes.
Of course, a moderator could do the same thing. Troll can always get new user names but at least these threads would eventually have a home of their own out of the main conversational channels.

The Soda Fountain at the Ghirardelli Chocolate Manufactory in Ghirardelli Square is well known to locals and tourists alike as the place for cold treat in the Bay Area. Ghirardelli is proud to have a long-standing tradition of quality and a reputation as "San Francisco's Own". In the spirit of this tradition, the good folks at Ghirardelli have created several San Francisco-themed sundaes, including this Golden Gate Banana Split.
