I'm listening to two republicans in another office trying to rationalize away the drubbing they took in this election. Really, they need to do a reality check, a little introspection and move along with the rest of us. Their most recent theory is that "democrats never gave Bush a chance". They must have heard that on Rush's show this morning.....It's simple...

Sitting on a fainting couch, in a small pantry room, just off of the kitchen with the window open. There's a huge banana tree just outside... I can almost touch it. The leaves are really making a noise as the drops plop on them....

The cat is in full purr mode playing with my foot and The Kings of Leon are playing in the background. The smell of venison stew is still wafting through the house.

Sometimes Friday nights at home are OK.

The ending to the first series of Skins from UK in which the cast sings "Wide World".
Rather startling in a show that never involves singing, but it is done so well, it hooked me on the series. ( the trapeze bit is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen)

Tony has just called his girlfriend and wanders into the street trying to get a signal on the mobile. "Can you hear me now?"
As he tells her he loves her, he is run down by a bus.

When the song starts, as Sid is facing the mirror and the other people in the bathroom sing the chorus, it is rather startling when you don't expect it.
They even involve the bus driver at one point.
It is all oddly surreal and beautiful.

The series ended with Tony dying in the street.
When the series was renewed, Tony is in a coma with extensive brain damage.
He plays the rest of the series as a traumatic brain injury survivor.

After a pause, the once always joking Tony says "Yes'", with a blank expression.

I forgot the rest of the scene.

Girl A: HEY!
What's up with you?

Tony: I had a traumatic subdural hematoma with motor and receptional complications.

Girl B: Are you mental?

Tony: Yes.

Girl C: I'd still give you one.

Girl D: Tellie. He's well fit. Yeah, queenie?

Girl E: Yeah, he's buff.

(shrug, no response from Tony)

Maxxie: Come on Tone. See you, girls.

Group: See you, Maxxie.

I want to give Maxxie one.

You can't. He's homosexual.

Bummer.

Scene

Part of the comedy in this scene is that these girls are ridiculously young and all tarted up.
