egad JK.........is everything you disagree with a "republican talking point"?
as you know, I'm more of an anarchist, than anything. I favor the danger/reward equation of more freedoms and personal responsibilities.
but crap.........yer sounding more and more like a left wing liberal automaton..........I know, you're more of a free thinking open minded person that that. And a very self reliant, self motivated and (to whatever extent) successful business man who got there by hard work, and not asking for hand outs.
you gotta know, if compared to the world economy, you, are the 1%, which you decry.

Yes! I like a society of survival of the fittest with some compassion and power thrown in to keep human rights in tact. No country has perfected this and each one has tipped to one side or the other.ygmir wrote:it also demands a more "self reliant" society, like the one you come from.........whatever you do, win or lose, the consequences are all yours.
much of our society, here, wants to be "taken care of" "womb to the tomb".
What unsettles with me is mostly the theory of "I am entitled to all possible government aid but I want to maintain my individual freedom with no government intervention". When you are THAT dependent on an entity then the entity sort of owns you.
This has nothing to do with Republic or Liberal stance. I come from Ayn Rand school of thoughts seeded long before I stepped foot on the soil of USA.
In my world there's only legible and more legible.

Re: Legalize Marijuana Movement!
It's the same sort of inflammatory rhetoric I decried in a previous post here. Words stolen from England regarding their health care system and used here in the United States BY REPUBLICANS to try and defeat Obama's health care reform program. (among other social programs.) It's interesting you didn't realize the whole connotation associated with that terminology.wh..sh wrote:Yes! I know that this will be a double post, but I think it's sort of appropriate here too:

Re: Legalize Marijuana Movement!
We've got a situation here in Nevada down in Las Vegas. The feds busted and closed the only dispenserary and the owner is now in court. The judge sitting on the bench is in a quandry trying to decide between feds and states right according to how it is written into our states constitution...
Here is my question/point; Gambling or prostitution is not legal by federal constitution, so why don't the feds crack down and close our casinos or brothels?

Because casinos and brothels don't have the same profit motive for the government as drugs. The war on drugs is a farce and it's pathetic especially when it is waged against marijuana.lucky420 wrote:We've got a situation here in Nevada down in Las Vegas. Re: Legalize Marijuana Movement!
And I seem to remember reading of a case here in California where federal and local LEOs were quite literally facing off against each other on a citizen's doorstep.lucky420 wrote: The judge sitting on the bench is in a quandry trying to decide between feds and states right according to how it is written into our states constitution...
I've been saying this for years: Citizens can not be required to comply with two conflicting laws at the same time. The first thing that needs to happen is that this conflict is resolved. Resolving such conflicts should be a top priority for legislators, without regard to the topic of the conflict.
Now... feel free to pick this post apart. But this has long been a pet peeve of mine, and I'm feeling cranky this morning.

Re: Legalize Marijuana Movement!
Legalize Marijuana Movement - The movement certainly poses a question of how to enforce "responsible" drug use.

I agree Elliot!
Untill laws are written so they can be enforce on everyone equally, I'll treat them as guidelines.

Why, do we need 10K laws, to govern our lives, when probably less than a dozen would do?

Re: Legalize Marijuana Movement!
I heard that it's super easy to pick up herb in states like Cali, Colorado, etc. Why bother legalizing it and having it get taxed the shit out of?
The only benefit I can see to that is that when I go to BM, i won't have to look like a feened and ask random people. That's been my biggest problem with american fesitvals.. Is that I can't bring my trustworth stash with me. I need to make a nice american friend.
