The Avatar Wars--Who's Winning?

Post by theCryptofishist » Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:00 pm

Certainly, jkishka is making a statement. So is mdf007. Toolmaker's statement seems final. And ibdave's worm has enchanted me for years--although it's still scared of me.
Then there are the people who put up pics of themselves: Expresso Dude, Pinemom, TITWI, AntiM, Nick Collide. For a start.
Or art. You gotta love Eliot's big bike in the water. Jellyfish has had pics from his works.
Me? I'm too lazy to change mine. Maybe this will get me off my butt.

So. Nominations? Comments? What do you like in an Avatar? What strikes you as a cliche?

Or is War simply the wrong metaphor?

Sounds like a 'good war', where everyone wins. Just like third grade, and perfect in the spirit of Burning Man.

I change mine when I feel like editing pics to fit the silly tiny size.

Avatars, Schmavatars

The big question here is who has the best signature at the bottom ?

I like em all. Mine fits my love for blowing and burning shit up and what I see coming in our future at some time in our lives. Its not that I want a real nuke go off. I was more than happy with Crude Awakening but I feel its gonna happen sometime.

I'll probably change mine back to the middle finger fire or something new and snazzy soon, I've just been lazy. I usually try to change mine from time to time.

At least I'm not soo lazy as to still have my simpsons one we all got crazy making awhile back.

I think I've just been insulted.... ;-)

(Seriously, I still have that because 1. it's got Blinky on it for Fishy 2. I've only just gotten involved back here again 3. I get my avatar jollies taken care of with my Livejournal account. 'cause really - 154 pictures {out of a possible 197}, and I can use a different one every time I post? Does it get any better?)

I think there are lots of clever ones...too bad I'm too lazy to go through some posts to check who's and list them.

I like most all of the animated ones. I also like the one that looks like the little red X you see when there is something wrong with the picture displaying but then morphs into a think a little bear or something.

And for signature lines, I think Isotopia usually manages to have some interesting ones.

Ok, now I have to enable my sig line again......

My favorite sig line was a Lao Tse quote. I have forgotten who had it as their sig line but it said, "Be one with the dust of the earth, it is a primal union".

tunn

1. thin; having small thickness
2. scanty, thin; sparsely occurring
3. diffuse, diluted; lacking substance

I've tried enlarging it with paint but it starts to get pixalated.

I've often wondered what Ygmir's avatar is, and how do you pronounced Ygmir?

It looks a bit like a stone carving of a divinity sitting on a throne with something kneeled down in front of it, possibly a goat?

I'd never have a Mule at my feet..........only by my side, pal O' mine..........
